We didn't trade for Jake. We just didn't have many options that year. It was either Jake Plummer, Kordell Stewart, or some nobody (at the time) named Jake Delhomme. In retrospect, we probably would have been better off with Delhomme, though raise your hand if you think he'll retire with a ring? Everything worked out for the best. |

I didn't think so. He was only a two year starter who had a lot of maturity issues that any student in the paloose could have commented on. Cutler, by comparison, was a 4 year starter at an Ivy league school who is widely regarded for his maturity. |

I remember how happy I was when they got Jake because I knew he would suck. The mange defended him to no end but look at them now. Jake has been thrown unnder the bus and they think this rookie who came from a losing football program is going help them save the season.
Shanny knows better. This move is for next year. |

Hilarious that a year ago at this time there were idiots trying to crown Plummer as an MVP. Stupid fucking Bronco fans. :shake:
We'll miss you and your stupidity Plummer, but we look forward to all of the ridiculous claims about Cutler from Bronco fans. |
I think its stupid, but I'm glad their doing it...especially now.
Cutler is a rookie who hasn't played against real speed game packages, his offensive line, running game, TEs are struggling, and the Denver D is struggling vs the Run, facing 2 great backs, and has injury issues in the secondary. I think Denver goes 0-4 through this stretch.. |

I think it's a smart move. It's the difference between going 0-4 or 1-3 down the stretch. Denver is putting in a rookie who hasn't played against real NFL speed and packages. The rest of the team is struggling, especially the run defense. However, Jake hasn't shown the ability to win when the team is riding on his shoulders. Optimistically, I would put Denver going 2-2 with Jake at QB, probably 1-3. The playoffs are a non-issue for Denver, with Jake or Cutler. So why not start the rook? Maybe he get's hot, probably not, but it will get him some experience for next year. |

it was SO great to see the last meltdown of JAKE THE FAKE...now we can call this new guy JAY THE GAY? (I have heard rumors that he and Shanahan are bedding up?)
|
The rat is obviously a GENIOUS. Papal Infallability with this move.

Time to add "****ler Sux Too" to my sig. It's official.

There once was a donk coach named Shanny
Who sat his QB on his fanny He gave Plummer the hook And put in the rook 'Cause Jake's beard was scratching his cranny. FAX |
I think it's a good move, from Denver's POV. Plummer has been crap. I was excited when Denver signed him, and loved watching him :D. Sure, he's won some games, but Denver is a team with annual delusions of the SB, and he was never going to take them there. Last season was his best shot....he was applauded round the league as a possible MVP candidate just because Shanahan mad minimised his propensity to stink it up. Then Plummer single-handedly blew it in the AFC-C game. That was his last chance for all intents and purposes. They drafted Cutler, and he has impressed enough - and Plummer continued to suck enough - to make the move now. It's a good move for Denver, IMO. They would have struggled the rest of the season with Jake. I think their record will actually be better given the Cutler switch than it would have been with Plummer continuing. It'll probably give the team a lift, something to rally round. Either way, it'll be tough for them to get into the playoffs this year, but it's also a head-start on next year.
I, for one, am sad the Plummer era is over. |
