If you are just going to lease, then those things matter less, but if you plan to own it for a long period of time, well, that is different. |

I just think it's more fun to have new stuff... I agree with you, there are definetly benefits to getting a proven winner. |

The best bet is to buy used. I bought a 2003 Acura MDX with 27,000 miles for $26k with NAV and the tow package. Now THAT is a hell of a deal. |

I currently pay $360 a month for a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero... 35,000 dollar car... 0 down! It was a steal due to my old man. It's a 27 month lease/15,000 miles a year. |

Well, there's always Carfax, which isn't 100% accurate, but there are plenty of cars that were always taken to the dealership for service and have all records.
Also key is not buying a vehicle that falls apart just because it's driven hard. Why would you want a car like that anyway? |

Obviously, that's not the kind of used car I'm talking about buying.
Buying a car 2 years old that's still under warranty is the best thing you can financially do. You aren't the one that took the major hit on depreciation, and you still get many thousands of miles under warranty. |
