BUT you still need to keep up treatment for the full 10 days.

I think the only difference between Amoxicillin and Augmentin is, Augmentin has potassium added. I don't think Augmentin is stronger per say, IIRC both have 500 or 750mg of amoxicillin in them.

I'd guess you could get the same benefit with agumentin and you could with Amoxicillim and a Potassium tab.

Might want to reach for the sky and ask for a morphine pill. Set your sights high.

Then settle for a Lortab.

Wonder what the shelf life of any cillin is. Can't be more than a couple years. Wonder if there is any way of prolonging the shelf life. The freezer seems like the logical place, but I dunno.

Painkiller. I think it is a very large dose of Acetimeniphen, not sure though. About the same strength of Vicodin and Percocet. Not as strong as Oxy's though.

Had Oxycontin 40mg script after a dentist appt. Took one and passed out. They sat up in a cabinet for another year before they were thrown out. Just was never one for painkillers, or anything much else these days for that matter. And to think there are people out there who will crush one up and smoke it. WTF!

In all seriousness. The only way I ever got rid of one was going to the doctor and getting a prescription for anti-biotics.

htismaqe 06-12-2007 06:55 AM

The best way to get rid of a sinus infection is to get a prescription for Levaquin.

Both are broad-spectrum antibiotics and don't work very well for sinus infections compared to something like Levaquin or Biaxin.

On that note, if you're serious about getting rid of a bacterial sinus infection, get a cycle of Prednisone with your antibiotic.

DO NOT use over-the-counter nose sprays for more than 2 days. The active ingredient in Afrin will help initially, but longer term use actually induces swelling, which will make things worse.

If you have chronic sinus infections and would like to avoid surgery (I ended up having to have the surgery and I'm glad I did) search your area for ENT doctors doing a procedure called "chemical cautery". No, it doesn't involve burning, but it does work for alot of people.

htismaqe 06-12-2007 07:04 AM

By the way, viruses can cause conditions like acute sinusitis and rhinitis, but a true sinus infection is almost always bacterial.
