True. It is also stupid IMO to beat Charles up this year for a team that is not going anywhere. No reason to run him into the wall on first and second down type plays. Get him touches, but don't overdo it. He will still have something left in the tank when the team gets better. Johnson....not so much. It is kind of like all the dumb ass Cowboy fans that think Felix Jones should start. Why? They have two guys that are more suited to getting tough yards. You can't look at the stats for these speedy guys and expect them to keep it up in a feature back role. They would break all the records if they could keep that up. No, they would just get hurt and be worthless.

RBs are a dime a dozen, and Charles is a better fit to run out the spread, which we'll probably see the Chiefs run about 60% f snaps.

When the Chiefs are ready to be competitive, it won't be all that difficult for them to find another RB if Charles is out of gas.

And with RBs being a dime a dozen, I wouldn't give a nickel for two dozen LJs.

What a bunch of crap. There's no way that Jamaal could be an every down back. He will be amazing as a screen RB or as a dump outlet for a 2 RB lineup. Sorry bud, but that's it.

Why not?

i think thats goin to happen next season. i think their going to try and get lj as many yards as they can and then try and trade him and if they cant their goin to cut him.

Either way, LJ can afford the best on the market.

Charles gained weight, I'm assuming LJ lost some with the majority of the team... lets see what happens. You would think Charles would if the system better, but you have to wonder why they drafted Williams("poor mans LJ") if LJ doesn't fit the system.

The Patriots continue to draft QBs with Brady, it's just part of the process. I think Charles has a part, I just don't see him as a workhorse, every down back.

The Patriots draft the same types of QB's though. People think LJ doesn't fit the system, yet the draft a RB like LJ. That is completely different from the Patriots QB situation.

It's funny how i see all this love for Charles being optimistic about taking a starters job but when Thigpen did virtually the same thing awhile back people were crapping their diapers about it.

I'm not optimistic about Charles at all. If he produces, I'll change my mind. Thigpen moved the ball (thanks to Gailey's adaptive play-calling) and it helped the offense at the time. I'm in the "whatever works" frame of mind, but I think LJ has something in the tank. The shittiest o-line in football and Mike Solari as OC will ruin any running back.

world of difference between 'I've already earned the starting position,' and 'I'm going to work my ass off to try to become the starter'

Sure, if he can somehow find a way to detach that dildo out of his ass, so he can stop getting injured alot.

Dr. Johnny Fever 07-25-2009 12:34 PM

Go Jamaal. We need more of that attitude.

Mr_Tomahawk 07-25-2009 12:46 PM

hmmmm...

I feel like this article goes hand in hand with this older one...

Kansas City Chiefs

Overrated: RB Larry Johnson. He isn't close to being what he was a few years back. Elite? Not anymore.

Underrated: WR Dwayne Bowe. He is a big, fluid receiver who would be a marquee name anywhere else. He makes it look easy when he runs.

Beerthirty 07-25-2009 02:52 PM

I think they will cut Larry this year if Javarris, Jamal, and Kolby show any kind of promise. When they went to court and they said they didnt have to pay him if he got cut, it marked the end. If he plays one year they will have to pay him.
