At some point, you have to just start throwing shit at the wall and hope it sticks. Is there really a big enough difference between numbers 30-53 on this roster to justify not taking a look at about anyone out there in a position of need that you have?

• After his senior season at Cal, Ryan was awarded the Morris Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding offensive and defensive linemen in the Pacific-10 Conference. What makes the award unique is the selection procedure, which has the starting defensive linemen in the Conference voting for the offensive winner and vice versa.

One down, about 8 to go.

He's a big man, who generally does well run blocking. He's not overly nimble, which causes struggles in space, and he's had concussion problems.

For all that, it's actually possible that he'll become the Chiefs starting right tackle. He has started in Kaczur's absence in the past, and Pioli knows that.

That's an excellent move. Even if we are just limiting ourselves to guys from NE and Miami, he's one that can help in an area we need.
