A dozen Long Island oysters on the half shell, well chilled with lemon and Tabasco.

A Maryland crab cake from Angelina's Restaurant in Baltimore.

A 16 oz. ribeye from my own grill.

Crisp, steaming hot steak fries.

Tall, frosty cold beer - many varieties could suffice.

Warm pecan pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

A good side compliments a good steak though.

My Lady's pasta shells stuffed with a variety of cheeses and spinach. Topped with my Mendolia's sausage and roasted red pepper marinara. Simple Caesar salad and Texas toast. Served with a Snake Bite made Kurant Vodka and a cider beer.

Geesh Emeril, how long did it take you to make all that?

The short ribs were left over.

Everything else a couple of hours.

By the way not technically my favorite meal but in has to be in the top 5.

a perfect meal for me would either be mexican from Tia's (In Texas) OR a steak and baked potato with a salad.....

but COMFORT food is different, for that I WANT:

A fried egg sammie made by my mom. Nothing better.

They absolutely do. Without question.

But the steak is the important part. The incremental gain from a good side with steak to macaroni and cheese with a good steak are virtually nothing in comparison when compared to the incremental gain from a perfectlty acceptable steak to a genuinely good steak.

Finding a good steak is key.

I think you just stated mine. No way I could up this one except maybe 2 dozen of those oysters and they are fresh from the beds in the ocean, and I'm getting a hummer after dinner.

Mud soup and the charcoal arugula; squid ravioli in a lemon grass broth with goat cheese profiteroles; rare roasted partridge breast in raspberry coulis with a sorrel timbale.

mlyonsd 11-30-2009 01:39 PM

Pot roast with carrots, potatoes, rutabaga. Red wine gravy, homemade butterhorn rolls.

Good winter Sunday afternoon thing.

Leftovers a few days later, hot beef sandwiches.

Donger 11-30-2009 01:40 PM

A bowl of lobster bisque, followed by a couple of pounds of King crab legs, accompanied by a salad.
