Yep. I was fortunate enough to go to that highly publicized one-time Who concert at the Cotton Bowl back in the late eighties. Started out with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, then Stevie Ray Vaughan, and then The Who.

I'd always liked the Who a lot but I wasn't expecting them to sound lile they were in their prime. I've seen a lot of great bands in concert but to this day that might be the best show I've ever seen.

It's funny. Back then I was expecting a bunch of old men on stage giving it a valiant effort but they blew me away. Hard to believe that was over twenty years ago. Now I never underestimate the older bands. I've seen Van Morrison twice and he puts on as good a show as anyone. I've recently seen The Allman Brothers and they rock like nobody's business, too.

I noticed that on the VH1 tribute to the Who. Daltry definitely could not belt it out like he used to. It was very noticible.

I guess this ought to be the official halftime thread. What say you?

light show is cool ... better than having a bunch of kids running around the field or something.

heh...not quite..that show is 10 years old.

Its more about appealing to the grey hair Who fans who most likely make up the bulk of the stadium crowd.

If they really wanted to do that right they'd have Caruso come onstage to find out why these guys are dead.

They're ok,but I'd rather see Janet Jackson's tits....
