Just got done watching it.

That was pretty informative.

Lady has a strong statement for everyone out there that thinks they know how anyone on a different side of the fence feels.

Affirmative Action made the choice for you no matter whether you were qualified to be white or not.

I'm going to have to charge you the normal hourly rate if you want 47 minutes of my time.

I watched this in Psychology class in 10th grade...in 1986. I believe it was on Oprah, as I recall. 20+ years later, it's still an interesting experiment.

I used to be quite the long hair back in the late 80's and early 90's. Went into a convenient store up in North Omaha, which is the "black" area of town. Talk about getting the stare down and the cold shoulder. All I wanted was a pack of smokes, and the dude behind the counter would barely acknowledge my existence.

A few years ago, I went to take my son in to get a haircut. There was a new place that opened called the Scraggly Head. Me being the stupid white guy that I am, I guess it's a reference to a black person's haircut or something. In any case, I walk in there and there is the barber cutting one kid's hair while the rest of the guys (about 4 or 5) are just sitting around bs-ing. I sat down and waited. After noticing that the dude was not really even cutting this kids hair (he was pretty much shaved head and he was cutting some lines on the side) I realized that this dude had no intention of serving us. Finally I got up and said I couldn't wait any longer. He apologized for being so "busy".

Just a glimpse into what it must be like for black people in certain situations.

Yeah, one time my buddy and I were driving in downtown KCMO, bar hoping because we were underage and could get into any city bar. Anyway, I got pulled over by a KCMO cop in my Trans Am. He told us to get our Johnson County ass's back to OP.

Sometimes you find yourself in places or circumstances in which you just don't belong.

Having said that, I completely agree with her unapologetic stance she takes on racism in society.

I think you're still missing the point. She gave you a first hand look at how we have to go through our ENTIRE LIFE with a disadvantage from birth because of our skin color. It doesn't matter if YOU personally are a racist...

The society we live in is racist to an extent which makes it harder for minorities to thrive. Of course there are exceptions to the rule but the way the system is already in place it's a breeding ground for failure for minorities.

Did you even watch the video... if you can't understand what we go through after watching that video you're just as clueless as the teacher that tried to compare her white husband to the black father that wouldn't pick his daughter up in the all white school because it'd be used against her.

No its giving a person that is disadvantaged a chance to escape those circumstances.

If you're not going to watch the video and be ignorant about it then why make stupid comments? In a sense, if we're still prejudged, held back and still have to fight to be equal I guess we're still enslaved to a different extent.

Are you really serious? The teacher asked the same thing and it was decided that that was her defense mechanism to try to pin the problem on us when we haven't created the problem.

phisherman 02-16-2010 10:15 AM

you confuse me roger. on one hand, you talk about how well things have gone for you in general, and then you turn into the angry brother.

pick a stereotype and stick with it! :) you know you're my buddy either way. and a heck of a disc golfer!

As I've said before, it's the fairest way to give minorities a fighting chance in an already tilted society ran by white people of power. Not a racist statement... it is what it is.

Chill out man, I was joking around.

Now tell me more about this daughter and what she likes used on...uh, against her.
