Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports that the Giants are "discussing" Royals outfielder Jose Guillen.
The struggling and overpaid Guillen was designated for assignment by Kansas City on Thursday afternoon after batting .255/.314/.429 over 396 at-bats and .151/.198/.260 after the All-Star break. He's a liability in the outfield and would not do well in San Francisco's spacious AT&T Park, but the Giants want to beef up their bench and Guillen at least boasts a hint of power. And Dayton Moore signed him. I'm not sure how to describe that kind of stupid.
