Actually in 2k5 the best way to utilize speed was to hold the A button until your meter charged up, and then press it one more time to get the full sprint effect.
You hit the hole or sprint away from the defender with one button press, and then if you get wrapped up, you hammer the A button for leg drive to break out of the tackle. It was the same with all the special moves. You set them up by charging them and then at the right time using it on the defender. A fully charged shoulder drop by a big RB was pretty sweet to watch. Same with jukes and spins. Defense had the same thing. A fully charged tackle resulted in a bone crushing hit. Keep in mind Madden Fanboys, that all through the Sega, and PS1 years, Madden always had you tapping the sprint button to run faster as well. Nobody seemed to complain. 2k5 kept that and improved on it with the ability to charge up the move to make it stronger. Maybe it wasnt for everybody, but at least it wasnt broken. Madden sucks. Hey, you need that FG to win at the end of the game? How about I line up offside right in front of your holder and sack him when you snap it, resulting in the game ending because the guys at EA are too f*king stupid to realise that a Half, or Game cannot end on a defensive penalty? How about you just go for it on every 4th down, because its impossible to punt if I bring a rusher with any type of speed off the right side of the screen? Maybe Ill just spam the formation shift until your defense has zero stamina and walk right over you to the endzone. Ill bust any run to the outside for a td by repeatedly juking and watching the ridiculous AI continuously react to each juke as if it happened right in front of them. All this is outlined in the Madden 05 video I posted had you bothered to watch it. Superior gameplay my ass. The proof that this game was a giant frothy jar of ass is right there. |
Every single game has glitches in it, I find it comical when people can't resist setting some house rules to not cheese the shit out of the game design, you know god forbid you don't keep running that play that always works.

If some douchebag is losing, you can rest assured the exploits in game design are not far behind. Its usually always defended with a remark like "They made the game like this for a reason. Learn to play noob." You shouldnt have to go for it every 4th down because the game designers cant design punt protection. Dickbags shouldnt be able to get a lead, wait for a play that ends with the clock running, and then repeatedly jump offsides until the half/game ends, because the programmers are too stupid to make the clock stop with a defensive penalty. "House rules" are what are considered mandatory by fanboys who refuse to believe that the people who designed their beloved game have the IQ of an inbred kid rocking a severe case of downs syndrome. You shouldnt need house rules. I dont recall anything in the 2k5 game that let you repeatedly grief the other player as much as Madden did in an online contest. |

I find that most people who complain about "cheesing" are just terrible at the ****ing game and want a reason to blame why they lose all the time...
I used to get that shit all the time when I was online...and I didn't "cheese" and I played with Damon Huard at QB (67) instead of Trent Green. |

What makes more sense to simulate running? Tapping a button multiple times, like your legs move when you run, or holding a button down the whole time? |
