Chase will go to top 10, plus 2 biggest winners: Twelve NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers will make the Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2011 -- the top 10 in points and the two drivers not in the top 10 who have the most race victories in NASCAR's 26-race regular season. NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France is expected to confirm that arrangement, along with a points system that gives 43 points to race winners and then one-point increments down to just one point for the last-place finisher. Each driver who leads a lap will get one bonus point, and regular-season race winners are expected to get two or three Chase bonus points for each victory. There will be no knockout rounds in the Chase, as NASCAR had hinted at earlier

Number FOUR Kasey Kahne is my dude. I also root for Tony Stewart because he's ****ing badass, but I don't pay attention enough to know what his number is now.

Old Dog 01-26-2011 06:08 PM

Tony is the #14, OP Edited

Not a bad number, who's sponsoring him now?

But yeah, put me down for number 4 and 14. Never been too big on Nascar, just following Kahne with some friends the last few years, but this year I plan to check it out more. I went to Kansas Speedway last year and it was an awesome experience.

These are some pretty good changes.

New Qualifying Procedure The qualifying order will be set based upon slowest to fastest practice speeds.
Inclement Weather Qualifying If bad weather cancels qualifying, the final starting lineup will be determined by practice speeds. The same rule book procedures will be used to determine eligibility to start a race. If weather cancels practice sessions, then the starting lineup will be set by points, per the rule book.

Yeah, NASCAR is MUCH more interesting live than it is on TV IMO.
The #14's Primary sponsors are Office Depot for 22 races, Burger King for 2, and (unbeknownst to me until I looked it up just now) Mobil1 for 11 races this year.

That may backfire on Nascar if a driver like Boris Said or Marcos Ambrose win both the road coarses and get into the chase.
