NFL players and owners seem to be inching ever closer to a new collective bargaining agreement even as new potholes seem to constantly threaten to derail a process which might be concluded at the league meetings Thursday and Friday.

"This would begin by going to the players' executive committee and to the NFL's labor committee. They would work out -- together -- any remaining issues, that'd be done likely by conference call. Then when that's done, the document would be ready to go to a vote. Now of course some of those issues still need to be worked out, but the legal work by the lawyers and staff that's been going on for the last four weeks is now done. And it looks like this is gonna be in the hands of the players and owners and (union executive director) DeMaurice Smith and (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell.

"It sets into motion that timeline which could lead to a player vote on Wednesday -- all 32 player reps will be in Washington, D.C., for that. It could lead to an owner vote on Thursday. And optimistically, it could quite possibly lead to that labor seminar late on Thursday and on Friday talking about the league rules going forward and how the clubs are gonna handle the possible end of the lockout."

Settlements of the players' antitrust suit and the case where owners were found to have negotiated their last TV deal in bad faith (creating their own lockout fund at the expense of maximizing revenue that could be enjoyed by players) likely also need resolution before a new deal can be put in place.

"Every day the last two years has been a long day," Smith said Tuesday, knowing the NFLPA also has to officially recertify to keep the ball rolling toward a new CBA.

The player reps are expected to meet this morning to pore over the final document and presumably approve it, vote to reconstitute the NFLPA and make a recommendation to the plaintiffs in the antitrust suit.

Im not saying there not gonna vote i just said there no deal on the table as of now AND wont vote till brady and tv case are over.

Nowhere in that video does Mawae say that there is not a deal on the table. IT's the exact opposite. He's saying that Player reps are all there to discuss the current deal and then they'll decide what to do from there.

Do you think Dee would put a deal on the table that he didn't think was in the players best interest? I really don't think they would even put anything out there to vote on if there were loose ends.

Just got to see ESPN TV, and they are running this across the ticker at the bottom of the screen as well. :shrug:
