That's being somewhat generous. Schaub had better stats than Smith in 2011 and 2012.

He might be placed in some bad situations down and distance wise.

Like, he might find himself in a 3rd down situation where he's got a LOT of yards to reach the first. 3rd and 15. That's a lot. 3rd and 22. That's also a lot. It could possibly even be something really terrible like 3rd and 31.

But surely no team is bad enough to let their QB get into an even worse situation than that, right?

Or even 3rd and 48?

Schaub is a huge upgrade over the shit Oakland rolled out there last season.

People have incredibly short memories. Schaub was a good QB until last season. He wasn't great, and he had a great WR to throw to, but right now 2013 is an outlier in his rather solid career.

At the beginning of 2013 nobody thought Smith was better than Schaub.

Schaub was very much like Stafford, "Chuck it to Johnson".

We lost players and are replacing them with unknowns and are optimistic, you can't fault the guy for being optimistic after adding better players.

This is more about Schaub than it is the Raiders being able to beat us. Yes, the guy wasn't quite right in the head last year. That's obvious. What caused that? There wasn't a change in offensive personnel. There wasn't a change in coaching. The dude just started tanking and playing like ass.

Is a change of environment really going to make him better, even though he doesn't have half of the weapons he had in Houston?
