Stick your rationalizations up your mother's ass.

No, it's not a good thing to lose him on defense. No, your roster does not have a 3 year window. Your rosters has a year-to-year window. When Manning retires, that window is ****ing boarded shut.

I remember similar comments back after the '98 season... something how Denver would be in the cellar for a decade or more as the other teams in the division would take ownership.

Every team has issues ... Denver's rolling with a few right now, whatever happens will happen. We'll see how it goes.

Uh, we won the division once in the 12 years after Elway retired. That's the same as the Seahawks. The Raiders won it 3 times, the Chargers 5 times, and the Chiefs twice.

Whoever said that may have had a point.

To be fair, the Broncos didn't really have a legit SB shot until last year after that. Not that we have any room to throw that stone.

Rain Man 07-23-2013 11:12 AM

I predicted a Super Bowl win for KC last year, but losing Hali for one game obviously destroyed our season. And that was just one game.

Hef was pimping either Mays or Woodyard last season. I think it was Woodyard but whichever it was, he had him balls deep, that's for sure..

Also, if I remember right, the Broncos went to the AFC Championship game in 05 didn't they? With ol Jake the snake Plummer.

ThaVirus 07-23-2013 12:01 PM

Yeah, I actually watched that happen live. As my next post stated, though, I wasn't quite sure which one of your LBs you were pimping. I was leaning toward Woodyard but thought it might have been Mays.

We are talking about the same guys that thought Jamaal Williams, Justin Bannan, and Jarvis Green were the best 3-4 defensive line of All-Time.

Consistent1 07-23-2013 12:05 PM

It sucks to see a potential legend get into this mess, Chiefs fan or not. He did post up a bunch of dumb pictures of piles of cash and shit like that. I don't know what to think of some of these guys getting into trouble at times.

Did I miss something where the Broncos were a successful franchise in the 2000s?

The absolute only reason Denver is a contender is Manning.

I talked about Mays some last off season, but I've never seen him as anything more than a 2 down run stopper.

On the other hand, I do have a deep and abiding love for Mr. Woodyard.

The only STAT BREAKDOWN OF THE AFC WEST that matters, since 1998:

Superbowls Won

Chargers 0
Chiefs 0
Donkeys 0
reeruns 0

Not counting 2011 or 2012, and only in terms of winning the division, sure. In terms of making the playoffs, KC, Oakland and Denver are all tied at 3 berths. Including the last 2 seasons as well, we're tied with SD at 5 since Elway retired.

Also, we've only finished last twice. Oakland and SD have finished last 4 times, and KC has finished last 5 times since then.

So no, KC has a slight lead over Oakland for the worst AFCW team since Elway retired.

Depends on the offense. If they can put up numbers and keep the D off the field they have a chance. No question not having Von is a killer blow, Del Rio's whole scheme is built around that position.

Whoever said that may have had a point.

It really depends on how you measure the success of a team. None of them won a SB title, so they all failed there. I brought up the comments about what life would be like after Elway to point out that the rest of the division didn't light the world on fire and Denver didn't suck for a decade.

Since 1999...

# of seasons with more than 10 wins
Broncos = 5
Chargers = 4
Chiefs = 3
Raiders = 3

# of winning seasons - GREATER than .500
Broncos = 7
Chargers = 6
Chiefs = 5
Raiders = 3

# of playoff appearances
Broncos = 6
Chargers = 5
Chiefs = 3
Raiders = 3

Playoff Record
Raiders = 4-3 (2 AFC Title games, 1 AFC Title win, 1 SB loss)
Chargers = 3-5 (1 AFC Title game, a loss)
Broncos = 2-6 (1 AFC Title game, a loss)
Chiefs = 0-3

So, again... if the wheels hadn't flown off the Raiders after the 2002 season (they haven't been better than 8-8 since), they could lay claim to being the most dominant team.

The rest of the division didn't exactly jump up and leave the Broncos in the dust after #7 retired. That was my only point. The AFCW has really been fairly pedestrian for the last decade... that's very unfortunate and hasn't been a lot of fun to watch, compared to the 80s/90s.

The Raiders haven't been a factor for a decade now, double that for the Chiefs. Bring on 2013! :evil:

I find it hard to believe that the Broncos will miss him the first four weeks. If I were him I'd just drop the appeal and people will likely forget about it. It has the potential to get more out in the press if it's drawn out obviously. I say 3-1, at worst 2-2 for them after the first month of the season.

Colquitt vs. Colquitt. I have no idea what amalgamation of stats are required to determine the best punter, but if there's a method for it, I'm down.

Dustin is better than Britton. Bet on it?

I feel like this shafts me pretty hard, since Alex Smith will 3-and-out and put the Chiefs in much shittier field position than will Manning. The percentage of kicks inside the 20 totally favors Britton by a large margin, since he'll be kicking far less often and in much easier spots.

Dustin, with Cassel and Quinn, would have won vs Britton with Manning last season.

Britton with Tebow would have won in 2011.

Hmm... maybe these aren't great terms for me.
