If you're using stats alone, then you should probably break them down to a per-game average.

Pretty stupid for one of you to leave if your QB gets hurt and only plays 4 games.

Yeah, that's the thing. I have no idea how to decide what stats to use. Hell, there's a chance Sanchez won't even start.

As far as injuries go, there has to be some kind of minimum game number or this whole thing is pointless.

Or, as OTW says, per game average is fine too.

In all seriousness, Baldinger was accurate for the most part about the Chiefs at the time of the interview (except for his "Glenn Dorsey will be the only Chief to make the pro-bowl" prediction.) I met him and his brother back when I interned at Metro Sports. Two pretty nice guys.

But it's all good! Haha.

Ya, you are right. He did end up right. I guess this was just part of my growing up to do. I still listen, and you have a great show Farzin. Ryno just launched our new podcast last month. ( He ran the old Chiefshuddle Podcast as well )

Well, if it were me, I'd be looking at several stats, not just one.

Total passing yards (per game)

Total TD's (per game)

Better INT-per-attempt ratio.

Highest average completion percentage per game.

Most game winning drives per full game played.

The guy with the QB leading in 3 or more of these categories wins the bet.

That's as fair as it gets, and shows more of a total package.

But if you want to go that route and take advantage, I guess it's your right.

Dude, I like Sanchez as much as anyone, but do you really think they're going to have a n00b QB slinging it around the field very much? Expect more Flacco treatment than Ryan.

Additionally, Haley isn't exactly fond of the run.

Total yards, per game, with an 8 game minimum? It keeps it to total yards, yet adjusts for injury or lack of starts per coach decision.

I don't think Sanchez has a chance of getting more yards than Cassel. Not this year.

(and vice-versa of course)

OnTheWarpath15 06-03-2009 10:19 PM

You now, I'm in the minority on this, but it could be MUCH closer than people are giving it credit for.

The Jets were 9th last year in RAC.

The Patriots were 3rd, and the Chiefs 24th.

Expecting Cassel to come anywhere near his numbers from last year without all that RAC is unrealistic, IMO.

Sanchez is also going to benefit from a much better line, and likely won't be sacked as much.

BRIAN WATERS’ ABSENCE AT CHARITY EVENT HINTS AT MINICAMP BOYCOTT
Posted by Mike Florio on June 4, 2009, 9:47 a.m. EDT

Chiefs guard Brian Waters has made clear his desire to get out of Kansas City, claiming that the new regime is arrogant.

He has displayed his displeasure by skipping out on voluntary workouts.

We’ve been advised — and we’ve confirmed — that Waters also skipped out on a key offseason event for a charity with which he is intimately involved.

First Downs for Down Syndrome is a Kansas City organization that teams with the Chiefs’ offensive line to raise awareness of Down Syndrome and to create positive images of those with Down Syndrome. Waters serves as the group’s co-chairman.

So he serves as the co-chairman, and he didn’t show for a Wednesday night auction.

Several other Chiefs were there, including all of the offensive linemen, and quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Tyler Thigpen.

With a mandatory minicamp opening on Friday, it’s currently looking unlikely that Waters will attend.

But there was no immediate financial penalty for skipping a charity event for which he is the co-chairman. If he doesn’t show for minicamp, he faces a daily fine in the range of $15,000, and possible forfeiture of a portion of his signing bonus.
Uh oh....:)

There's some merit to your post here, mecca, but at the same time there have only been a handful of QBs, at best, who were able to elevate other players to a level beyond reasonable expectations.

If Pioli is right about Cassel, then this team might well be a 5 win team.

Anything beyond that, especially with the O-Line he will be playing behind, will be a firmly position him as a franchise QB.

Would you kindly list the QBs currently playing in the NFL who you think consistently elevate the other players? Brady is one, obviously, at least regarding mediocre receivers (hello Reche Caldwell) but who else fits the description?

I know most people think I'm out of my mind for going total yards, but the Chiefs WR's and LINE are going to make life very trying for Cassel, and we rarely if EVER do shit on yards after the catch unless our guys happen to be wide-open with not a damned soul in sight to stop them.

Actually, it really can. You should take a look at that group they've got. Of course, I expect them to scour the cut lists just as I expect the Chiefs to do it.

I caught a look at last years roster a few moments ago; not very impressive.

Agreed.

I think he KNOWS he has to establish a running game - if he doesn't, they are ****ed.

If he's throwing the ball all over the yard by choice, then he deserves the 3-13 record he'll finish with.

Yep.

He's not stupid, but he does have his hands tied by a lack of talent.

EDIT: KK said at the beginning of the show that he may not be on! He's obviously not on so I guess they were not able to get him.

Way to go Fartin. You had my hopes up. This is almost like when I thought I was gonna have sex and then didn't. Oh wait, not that's not that bad, you can always whack it... So this was like when I was looking forward to that leftover cheesesteak I had in the fridge only to find out that my gf ate it before I got home. I got sex that time at least...
