Hoch doing what he can to try to give our bullpen even more rest.

You know what, if Hoch can go 7, then in the 8th I wanna see Adcock. Cold, wet, rainy, miserable, but with a 4-run lead, but also wet so hard to pitch... I wanna see more of Adcock. Lets see if this rule V kid is any good or not.

Reached out on a pitch low and outside and just dropped it into LF behind the shortstop.

This team has been pretty damned good at that this year. It seems like we've already had more sac flies this season that all of last year.

Of course, we still can't seem to do anything with the bases loaded and less than 2 outs.

alnorth 04-15-2011 08:11 PM

7th inning

Top 7th

Cust grounds out to second
Kennedy flies out to left
Olivo strikes out (swinging)

0 runs, 0 hits

Bottom 7th

Ka'aihue grounds out to second
Aviles grounds out to pitcher
Maier walks
Treanor grounds out to pitcher

0 runs, 0 hits

We didn't start getting real good at Sac flies until that blown game against the Sox. We had like 3 sac flies opportunities that game and didn't capitalize.

I'm talking about stealing a base.

That run doesn't score without that stolen base.

Blake Wood according to Bob Davis, then again, he can't distinguish the players due to their lack of different numbers.

Hell, that's one area that KC has improved dramatically, was the stolen bases. They're tied (or probably leading) for 1st in the MLB in stolen bases.

Even that, as a team, their OBP% is .344, good for 6th in the MLB.

That's some good stuff.

That's some good stuff.

The primary reason the Royals were so good in the 80s is because of their aggresiveness and speed on the base paths.

I know what you're suggesting, but in the MLB kingdom, these are the same ol' Royals until we contend for a pennant.

alnorth 04-15-2011 08:26 PM

8th inning

Top 8th

Blake Wood relieves Hochevar

Saunders pops out to shortstop
Rodriguez doubles to left
Ryan grounds out to shortstop, Rodriguez to third
Suzuki singles to left, Rodriguez scores
Figgins singles to right, Suzuki to third
Bradley grounds out to shortstop

1 run, 3 hits

Bottom 8th

Aaron Laffey relieves Pauley

Escobar flies out to left
Getz grounds out to third
Cabrera grounds out to second

0 runs, 0 hits

Saul Good 04-15-2011 08:26 PM

I don't get this decision at all.

Well, I think we're seeing a repeat of history here. Sometimes, it's not all about speed, but also picking the right timing, for instance, where a pitcher would (assuming) throw an off-speed pitch.

I wonder what the Royals would be like if they had someone who could hit a baseball at DH.

alnorth 04-15-2011 08:28 PM

Escobar is very good at the game of baseball, particularly at the defensive position known as "shortstop"

Mr. Laz 04-15-2011 08:28 PM

duuuude ... our shortstop is still in braces.
