Why is the veteran draft a snake draft order, while the rookie draft is straight?

First of all the rookie draft will be every year. It is designed after the NFL draft. In future years we'll follow the NFL rules for determining draft order based on record.

The vet draft is a one time deal and makes a huge impact on the future of the team. The serpentine order is an attempt to lessen the blow of missing out on one of the top left tackles that will all be gone after the first 5 picks or so.

Nope. No test yet, though we did a little testing on the draft system. I learned to carefully check who I was drafting because Andre Johnson is not the same as Andre Caldwell.

Oh shit, good pick. A-rodge is the safest pick to build a franchise around.

Dang. I had Aaron Rodgers as my #1 pick.

Rivers, Brady, and Manning were my 2, 3, and 4 guys. Obviously Brady and Manning are the better short term plays, but Rivers should give me five more years on the field.

Brees is a good pick, but is older than one would expect, so I thought Rivers was a better choice between the two.

I'm sitting on the 16ish pick in league two, and I think I just came up with the greatest strategy this game will ever see.

Eh, I'm searching the thread, but it's big enough that it's hard to find people who want to move up. Maybe we ask people to say it again (and I think I also told them to pm cdcox when I saw them), and otherwise we move up the League 3 people as needed since it's not yet active.

Will the rookie draft take place before the real draft next year or after again? I think there's a huge advantage to knowing what player is already drafted to what team irl.

I'd almost be more interested in this if the veterans were placed on teams at random and work from there.

Go into the trades and propose them. It's a little tricky at first, but very nifty once you get the hang of it. You add one player/pick at a time to the transaction until you're done, then propose the trade and approve it while doing so.

I've kind of pondered that too as a startup option. It may take more patience than some people have to do the initial veteran draft. Either that or have some sort of bidding system. This might be the way to go in the long run.

Next year there'll be a rookie draft, and then I believe the free agent draft will follow it. The free agent draft will be much smaller than this initial veteran draft since most players will already be on teams.

I'm the first pick for the veteran draft in league 2, so I'm trying to set my board to auto-pick in case I'm not around, but I keep getting "there is no such team" errors. Did my team get deleted?

I'm just thinking that we've already had a handful of guys quit, and we're only 5 picks into a 1300 pick draft.

Not trying to throw a wrench into the works, but it might be a better option to keep interest high.

Is your draft active yet? I can't see it so I don't know when the draft starts.


To set your draft board, you don't pick the autopick feature until your draft board is set up (partially or in full - doesn't matter since you can lock and unlock it). Make sure the box is unchecked, and then hit the arrow under "Move to draft board" for the player you want. don't hit "draft" because it won't work.

Are you doing all of that?

I might agree with this. It's a bit of a worry. Or maybe if we have sufficient volume we have both types of leagues. I'd rather draft my team but can see why others would rather start with a roster.
