49ers fans chime in:

Quote:

This is the recipe if you want to go to a championship game with Alex Smith:

SF 2011:

Break the record for most field goals in a NFL year

Defense allowed ZERO touchdowns rushing until week 16.

The special teams and defense broke the NFL record for worst averge opponent starting field position.

Have 47 takeaways on defense

Have 42 sacks on defense

2000 yards rushing

Defense holds for 64 rushing yards per game forcing opponents to pass.

Me wanting Alex Smith as a developmental replacement for Brodie Croyle five ****ing years ago has absolutely zero relevance to present day conversation.

I've already stated I'd take him here as our backup QB.

In no way am I happy about him being the starter or giving up two high picks for him.

My take is he is really cautious and in the NFL, to score TDs, you have to throw into tight coverage on time.

One, he is not confident in his arm, which is slightly above average at best so he is not going to fit throws into tight spots on a regular basis. This will kill you in the redzone and scoring ranges when those windows shrink due to the field shrinking.

Two, he gets rattled easy and has little pocket presence. MEaning, the timing will be off because he is not good at sliding around in the pocket and sensing pressure. He will have "happy feet" and sometimes feel pressure that isn't there. So this will throw off all the timing and he will just check it down. Thus, high completion percentage, low yards, low ints, low tds and high QBR.

Think about it. Last year the niners had a historical defense ad special teams and he mustered only 17TDs. Daid Akers broke the NFL record for most FGs in a season. that pretty much sums it up right there.

If i could post images and vids id show you examples but i'm only a rookie here.

Thanks for the info.

NO 1.5 winning seasons.

5 coaches fired

Benched for 8 different backups =not even starter caliber QB's

They kept trying to play him and justify because he was a #1 overall draft pick that they wasted 60MILLION on ... 49ers kept trying to get a Return On Investment and it never happened, so when he got concussed they took the easy train out and started Kaepernick...

Except in the playoffs.

Everyone's been throwing out this 24 points stat, like only a sucky QB would lose so much when getting scored 24 or more points on. I'd like to know what the league average wins v. Losses when the opponents score 24 or more. I'll Bet almost everyone loses more than they win those games.

It's true but they have won a Super Bowl. OH soo you're comparing Alex Smith to 2 HoF. I now see the depth of your stupidity. It runs deeper than a black hole. What a tool you are. Like any sane person would ever think those 2 QBs are like Cassel. GTFO now! AND STFU. Leave this thread for the intelligent people not you blowhard, take it in the ass loving ninnies.

it was a pretty simple point

every QB has bad plays...posting .gifs and saying "look! see!" is a terrible way to try and make your point

you can post 30 great Matt Cassel plays and be like "wow, what a QB."

After watching that video...I'm not sure that Cassel makes even half of those throws. Again, i'm not in favor of the Smith trade, and i really wanted Geno, but I think Smith is going to be a LOT better then we are used to so much better that the rest of the team will play to its talent level, and we might be able to make some noise in the AFCW.

Now, draft Geno to be groomed, and i'm one happy mother****er.

dude I was on the Kaepernick bandwagon from the get go...before everyone else...I predicted the 49ers would go to the Super Bowl on the premise that Kaepernick was VASTLY underrated. He transformed Crabtree into a flat out beast. Alex was doing a much better job of getting his receivers involved this year...something he didn't do well in 2011.

I hate this Alex Smith trade because of the ridiculous compensation. However, all you're doing is bending the facts to make it look like Smith is just as bad as Matt Cassel etc. etc. etc. It's ridiculous and it makes you look foolish.

Once Kaepernick took over, Vernon Davis had a stretch of like 6 weeks where he had a combined 3 catches or something silly like that. So I guess one could argue that since Kaepernick basically only targets Crabtree he is Cassel-esque because Cassel always threw it to Bowe.

Hey, guess what?!!??

COLIN KAEPERNICK IS 3-1 AGAINST TEAMS THAT SCORE 24+ POINTS.

Hmm. That might be because Kaepernick is better.

Yeah, see, no. No. Because Colin Kaepernick averaged 290 yards passing and rushing per game.

So no.

No.

the last 6 regular season games Vernon Davis had 6 receptions (total) for 61 yards and 0 TDs. Kaepernick = Cassel because he only makes one read!!!!

So dumb.

I was on the GSIII bandwagon with everyone else. I listened to McShay on the radio the other day and no one else sees what we see. Obviously Andy Reid didn't see it and it's not like he's against taking QB's...he was booed off the stage when they made the controversial McNabb pick.

This board has been wrong about QB's before. Draft experts have been wrong about QB's before. McShay was the guy who said Clausen wouldn't be drafted in round 1 while Kiper stubbornly had him #3 on his big board and ranked over Sam Bradford.

Obviously, despite what kind of success Geno/Barkley MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE, we (because we're the Chiefs) had to get the #1 pick the 1 year there was no stud QB prospect in the draft.

I know that sucks, and I know people are going to plug their ears with their fingers and scream "la la la la la la la" but clearly that's how the "experts" and even the teams view it.

I hate that we seemingly bid against ourselves (I could be wrong) to get Alex Smith...however, as I've said from the first day of this trade, if they don't extend him and make him play at least 1 year of his contract to determine what kind of QB Alex Smith REALLY is, and re-sign Bowe and Albert I'm willing to give the regime a shot before I resort to being a full fledged ChiefsPlanet drama queen.
