Which coach was worth a shit? How is a team supposed to succeed when they don't attack on offense OR defense? Schemes, and systems designed to play it safe don't typically work unless they are being carried by another part of the football team. When was the last time a timid, play it safe offensive and defensive team did anything of note? |
I'll say it nice and slow again, so Knowmo can send me another rep.....
Andy Reid is the best coach in the division. KC has the most individual talent outside of QB. We'll see how that translates onto the field. |

Pawnmower really pimped Cassel.
He went down with that ship. Odd that he doesn't like Smith. |

This place has "pimped" every QB we've carried at some point or another.
Palko, Huard, Thigpen, Cassel, Orton. Hell, people try to make out Stanzi, Daniel and Bray as great options and they have a combined 9 NFL snaps between them. Bottom line? Chiefs QB's are awesome, and unless your name is Manning, Brady, Rodgers or Brees, you ****ing suck. |
I was wrong. **** otwp are you ever going to let me live it down?

But I never liked huard or Palko

I always found it funny when Hootie went balls deep on Downfield Big Game Huard

In the end there are people who are going to defend what the Chiefs do, regardless of what it is. |
And this place has pimped every coach as well.
Haley was going to be more aggressive than Herm's RRPP. Jim Zorn was going to be great for Cassel's development. Romeo was going to be the mastermind of a Top 5 defense. Then when none of those things came anywhere close to happening, they all took the blame - it has to be their fault with all this "talent", right? |

QB/HC combination. Brees couldn't do it last year without Sean Payton. And SP couldn't do it without Brees. It's like a good director and leading actor. They feed off each other. |

Drew Brees threw for over 5,000 yards and 43 TD's last year. I'd say he did just fine. |

They didn't win. They were a rudderless ship in the ocean with no direction. |

Clay was the biggest homer here not long ago. Now he's just a big hypocrite. |

Reasonable is not an extreme. Reasonable is not that there is only one way. It wouldn't have mattered what this front office did short of drafting a QB that was not worthy of our 1st overall that would have made you or many others happy. |

I'm not a hypocrite because I recognize that I was indeed a homer once, and wrong for it. |

I mean how bad do you have to be if you lose to the Chiefs in your own stadium. That's why Spags got canned as soon as HEAD COACH SP came back. You need both a good QB and a good coach. You think the Ravens won because of Dilfer? Then again Brees won 7 games last year without a HC. We're winning it all this year. Bank it. |

And, just you wait until the season actually starts. You might find yourself doing some bitching as well. This club has a good beginner's story, if not one of the best. But the post-Stram years do not tell a glorious tale overall. If you can't see this, then I really don't know what the **** to tell you. It is my hope that this franchise will someday pull it's head from it's ass and exceed both the Marty and Dickie-doo years, and actually be worthy of some thing more in this league than being "respectable" and "snake-bitten"(which is an absolute ****ing myth perpetrated by ignorant assholes who refuse to acknowledge that this club has all but led the division if not the league in bad decision-making for DECADES). So forgive me if don't just hop right on the latest Mr. Rodgers Trolley to the merry ****ing Land of Make-Believe. |

It will do no good. I am not in control of this team in anyway. I can either accept that and know that the Chiefs are just entertainment. Entertainment is suppose to be fun. Bitching and acting the way you have been cannot be fun. If it isn't fun then how can it be entertaining. |
I don't think there's anyone here that doesn't want Smith to succeed. We've seen before though so it's hard to go all in.

Jaws rated Phyllis Rivers @17. Didn't say much good about him, a pocket passer that depends on good solid line blocking to be productive. Struggles when trying to do too much. Didn't have a good out look for him with the Chargers for 2013 season.

1) Smith proves everyone wrong and is BETTER in Andy Reid's offense than he was in Jim Harbaugh's. His efficiency holds up when asked to do more, and his atrocious performance on 3rd down becomes a distant memory. He becomes a near-elite/top 15/borderline top 10 QB. 2) Smith is WORSE than he was in Harbaugh's offense, preventing the Chiefs from tying themselves to him long-term. 3) Smith is about the same as he was in Harbaugh's offense, though his efficiency numbers drop when asked to throw more often and be more aggressive with the football. He remains somewhere between the 15th and 22nd best QB in the NFL, good enough to make the playoffs with a strong defense and running game but probably not good enough to win at a significant level when matched up against teams with elite QBs. If I was to rank them in order of what I think is likely, I put about a 75 percent chance on 3, 20 percent on 2 and 5 percent on 1. I have a feeling we see an extension if 3 is what ends up happening. And I don't think that's really a good thing (unless they draft the heir apparent in the background and have him ready to take over by 15 or 16). |
Even if Smith gets an extension, I doubt it will be anywhere near a legitimate "starter" contract, and instead will be around 7 a year for maybe 2 or 3 years at most. Reid isn't the kind of coach to be ok with mediocre QB play, and will only keep Smith around until a better option arises.

It's another way the Smith trade could cost us big. Smith plays average this year but it's contributed to being on a new team, new scheme and new players etc. Next year Smith plays average until the final few games. He has a really good 2 or 3 games to finish the season and everyone talks about how they team has now settled in etc and this is the "real" thing. Alex Smith's contract is now up ... do you really think they can/will not give him a new contract based on those last 2/3 games instead of the rest of the average ones? boom ... 6 years/60 million We as much as we traded for Smith the only way(s) we get a franchise QB is if: 1. Smith is a franchise QB 2. we get lucky with a low round guy (ie Bray etc) either is a long shot imo |
Smith should really be in the top ten or so. Jaws has something against the chiefs for some reason.

I wonder who number 1 will be
|
IR: P. Manning

Jesus,
I shudder the thought of Drew Brees retiring. |
Las Vegas has the over/under on KC at 6.5 this year. Hooray for spending valuable draft picks to acquire the 20th-rated passer, to accomplish nothing in the short term, and not build for the future. Congratulations, KC!

Romo is #15 apparently. Only because of his inconsistency though. I'd take Romo for 2 seconds before I took Alex Smith.

I'm optimistic about this year. Every year I am though. If we surpass two wins I'm celebrating. Baby steps.
