Great game by Ervin!!!!

O.city 07-19-2013 08:50 PM

Good win fellas, drove by the K had a big packed house tonight, good to see.

Dartgod 07-19-2013 08:50 PM

I can't believe that single run held up.

Superb job by Santana, Herrera and Holland.

siberian khatru 07-19-2013 08:50 PM

I'd like to think that improved Santana's trade value, but we all know he ain't going anywhere.

Depends on what happens between now and the dead line.

We're gonna play 1-2 games over .500 in that stretch, and that will convince Dayton we're in it.

Deberg_1990 07-19-2013 08:54 PM

French Quarter replace by GordoNation. Kinda weak...

I honestly would like to try to resign Santana if possible.

MeatRock 07-19-2013 08:55 PM

Nice win. Santana, Herrera and Holland were superb. Santana pitched an amazing game. Hat's off.

I honestly like our chances if KC somehow sweeps Detroit.... but that's just me.

Me too, but he's going to get paid big time. Some big market team will overpay him this off season probably. Also Santana has not been consistent at all throughout his career. I would be very nervous signing him to anything beyond 3 years, but Santana most likely would want a contract longer than that.

MeatRock 07-19-2013 08:58 PM

I'm not sure who has pitched better this year Santana or Shields. I'm gonna go with Santana.

Same, but no complaints here about Shields, except the 1st inning.

I won't go that far but, I would say we are on the right track. Considering they go on a losing streak every time they have gotten back or close to .500, if they actually get above by the deadline then I will like our chances.

Agreed, but it's also the matter of being no more than at least 6 games behind 1st in general as well, regardless of the record. Anything can happen in 2 months (August and September)

Sure-Oz 07-19-2013 09:02 PM

Trade Santana

For most teams I eould agree with this. For the Royals, who have a couple of decades worth of a losing mentality, I'm not so sure.

Well, we'll see how this week and a half plays out. Personally, it would be nice to go on a 10 game winning streak, but I don't think the odds of that happening.

If KC can get something of the following:

2 out of 3 against Detroit
2 out of 4 against Baltimore
2 out of 3 against Chicago

That to me is the best scenario. It's hard to take 3 out of 4 in a 4 game series, but it's also possible. On the other hand, it's also possible to go 1 out of 3 against the Tigers, 1 out of 4 against Baltimore, and 1 out of 3 against Chicago....

That being said, I do really believe that the Royals would have been so much better, record wise, if it wasn't for two black holes on 3rd base and 2nd base....

If the bats do not suddenly and magically come alive, the best we can hope for is .500. And sadly, I would actually be pleased with that.

chiefsfan987 07-19-2013 09:11 PM

Twins just beat Cleveland... nice to gain on both them and Detroit for once.

And that, to me, is the problem. They either have to win big -- to get back in it -- or to lose big, to convince them they are out of it and trade Santana, etc.

Instead, I think the worst-case scenario is they just kind of keep tottering along, never really getting in it or out of it ... which means Dayton believes they're in it. He's vindicated, he tries to win now, and on and on.

Well, I am really hoping like hell and praying like hell that Dayton finds a ****ing 3rd or 2nd baseman who can hit worth a shit, because those two positions are obviously a huge huge black holes right now, outside of Moose's two walks, which was nice.

But I am not holding my breath.....

As much as no one wants to hear it, and as much as I hate to say it, it is a step forward.

Being thankful for Moose's two walks is like me being thankful for ending the season at .500.

We know now they aren't buy OR sell mode. That's bad news.

Meh, sure I missed a win, but the sit-out was still better!

Congratulations Royals team, management and owner, you can still blow me.
