Philly is rumored to be pushing hard after Kesler from Vancouver.
|
Kesler's the one guy of significance out there to me. I mean, Vanek would be interesting but I hear the Islanders' asking price is out of control for a playoff rental.
I don't understand what the Oilers are doing. They gave Anaheim draft picks for Victor Fasth after giving the Kings a 3rd rounder for Scrivens AND giving him an extension? WTH? |
Oh and the Kings insider Jon Rosen saying that Vanek unlikely to the Kings, but the Isles are sitting Vanek because they're working on something, according to LeBrun.
|
I don;t think Kesler to the Flyers will happen because Schenn would have to be a part of that deal and the Flyers really don't want too give him up. The Red Wings are said to be going big time after Vanek so we will see.
|
Any Panthers fans here?
Anybody? |

Rumored that it's Marty's last game as a Devil and that he's going to the Wild.... I'm sure he'd love to beat Philly or the Rangers one last time, but beating the Wings is always nice, too.
|
The Wild are really putting something nice together. It helps that guys want to go there, often because they grew up/played there.
|
North stars was an awesome team name
|
The Kings acquired Marian Gaborik from the Blue Jackets for Matt Frattin/picks. Not a huge deal to me.
Also acquired Brayden McNabb and some picks from the Sabres for 2 AHL guys. Other moves today: Vanek to Montreal for picks. Legwand to the Red Wings for Eaves and a pick. Kesler stays in Vancouver. Ruutu to the Devils. Penguins acquire Goc. There's other stuff too. |
Gaborik doesn't seem like a good fit for the Kings.
St Louis to the Rangers for Callahan is big. |
The Kings will be far better off if Dustin Brown continues to heat up than anyone they could have acquired.
Apparently the Kings have had a jones for him for a long time. We'll see. |
Halak to the Capitals
|
Were there any Kings/Vanek rumors? Surprised they didn't grab him, especially since Montreal didn't give up much for him and I'd think the Kings could pretty easily match that. Hell, Penner might have been a better move than Gaborik.
|
I'm assuming Halak hadn't bought a house yet in Buffalo.
|
They were talking about Vanek. But the price was apparently too high at the time, and Lombardi moved on. And like I said, he had a real hard-on for Gaborik. They had almost acquired him before he went to the Rangers a few years ago.
I also think most people assume Vanek's going to sign with Minnesota next year, whereas they think there's a chance they could retain/resign Gaborik. Like I said, not thrilled but the Kings are heating up and they really didn't give anybody of substance away. |
The Avs and Ducks both tried to trade for Spezza at some point today
|
Garth Snow should be fired for the Vanek trade today.
|
Yeah, sounds like he overplayed his hand big time until the Habs came in late with a low offer and then he panicked.

Avs did a lot of nothing today for the most part. And I'm fine with that.
|
MacKinnon just broke a Gretzky record. It's an obscure one (point streak by an 18-year-old), but that's damn impressive regardless.

Pens are so fun to watch
|
Yeah I don't think any Kings fans are acting like we just acquired the next Wayne Gretzsky with Gaborik.
Most of us are actually more excited about Brayden McNabb, the young defenseman they got from Buffalo. Kid has a ton of potential, should be a nice addition by next year. On another note, 6 straight wins. GKG |
The Preds are pretty much done now, if that Jarnkrok guy works out they get a great return on Legwand, if not a 2/3rd rounder is not terrible for 20 games. Now I have to hope the Red Wings make the playoffs lol.
|
Scary situation in Dallas against Columbus. Rich Peverly collapsed on the Dallas bench. The game was postponed.

Pens win again!
Damn that sucks about the Stars game |

LOL The Stars could have literally gotten away with murder tonight.
At least the Blues picked up a point. |
The West is just beastly from 1-6...

Fleury with a phenomenal save tonight!

I know better then to get my hopes up but the Blues look damn impressive.
|
In other news, the Senators just blew a 4-1 lead with 3.5 minutes left to lose to the Canadiens 5-4 in OT. Nuts.

Tarasenko injured a hand last night, had surgery, out a minimum of 6 weeks. |

Kings-Ducks was pretty entertaining last night.
The Kings were robbed of a 3rd period equalizer on a bad incidental contact call, which was almost as bad as allowing Maroon and Jackman goals. The Kings took advantage of an inferior schedule (save Colorado) to run up their points total, but went right back into the abyss against the Leafs/Ducks. God I hate Anaheim. |

I think I was in the triple digits in terms of number of Penguin passes that went either nowhere, or right to a Flyer. Another piss poor effort. You don't wait until you're down 3-0 to THEN start playing.
The game winner came from a Deryk Engellend turnover on the power play. My question is: why in the hell is Deryk Engellend on any Penguins power play unit? |

That's really an awesome video. You could just tell it meant the world to that kid. Thanks for sharing!

Figures. The hockey world has been sucking the Blues' dick for the last 8 games, then they lay an egg on national TV.

Some good games tonight coming into the home stretch.
Kings at Penguins Blackhawks at Bruins Wild at Blues Habs at Wings I like how Gaborik is settling in with Kopitar. Lots of speed/skill there. If San Jose holds on to the top spot, barring a Kings meltdown...looks like a first round Freeway Series against the Ducks. Tasty. |

The Penguins have to get out of this funk. Or at least get healthier.
This is not setting up to becoming a memorable playoff run. |

PIT has to be concerned about having only 6 SOG on 6 power plays with no PP goals. |
Avs are this close >< to clinching a playoff spot. Watched tonight's game from row 9. Good times.
|
And there ya go - Avs clinch. This team's a hell of a lot of fun to watch.
|
Hope Duchene is ok though... MRI Monday. :(

Looks like the Leafs have fully collapsed.

That Avs win is a huge blow to the Sharks, too. Anaheim needs to make their move to win the Pacific.
Phoenix is playing well down the stretch, I expect them and the Wild as the 2 Wild Card teams. As of now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Western match ups would be: 1. St. Louis vs. WC2 Phoenix 2. San Jose vs. WC 1 Minnesota 3. Anaheim vs. Los Angeles 4. Chicago vs. Colorado |

Someone help me. Do they re-seed the match ups for the 2nd round? How are those determined? Is it like the NFL where the highest remaining seed plays the lowest one? I probably should have just googled that. |

I still consider the Kings (personally) our 2nd main rival. To me, the Sharks will always be number one. I ****ing hate the Sharks.
I can watch the Kings and not aggravated. Perhaps even root for them. Sharks? Burn in hell.... |

If it was just post season play, the Wings would be our mortal enemy. I'm beyond glad they're in the East now. |
Penguins clinched a playoff spot last night, which is something to never take for granted.

Duchene's out roughly 4 weeks. Some sort of knee sprain, though they weren't specific. :(
Could've been worse. If the Avs are able to make it through Chicago, he might play again this year, but it'll be iffy. |
This is Joel Embiid all over again.
