Flacco caught on absolute fire when it counted the most. I see nothing wrong with paying him to have a chance at doing it again. The downside: If he doesn't produce you are where you would have been anyway. |

Really, if a guy wins you a SB, he's pretty much untouchable. If Alex Smith leads us to a SB, he's never leaving this team. It just won't happen. |

If we win with nasty defense and he keeps playing like he has, I won't be so welcoming. |

A QB that wins a SB, regardless of him riding the coattails of a great defense will always get the benefit of the doubt. |

The 2006 Ravens would've crushed the 2012 version. But again, I'm fine with how history's going to go on this one. The Ravens are going to be irrelevant until they can get the hell out from under that Flacco deal. You go ahead and take your side - that the Ravens will be a better team going forward for having Joe Flacco and that absurd contract on their team - and I'll stick with mine. |

It's worth "gambling" the next 3 years to give your average QB a chance to do it again.
If he sucks, so what, at least you gave yourself the best chance. It's not like there are a lot of QB's just laying around that have shown they can win a SB. |

The offense only put up 19. |

They absolutely cannot even consider cutting him until 2016 and in that year he'd carry either a $28 million cap hit or he'd put $26 million in dead money on the cap. You can virtually guarantee they re-structure that deal and in so doing, just lengthen the pain. Alternatively they play through it, cut him in 2017 rather than deal with the $31.5 million cap hit and then eat $15 million in dead money instead. That's not just a 3 year gamble; it's a reckless signing that could have consequence that ring for half a decade or more. They're significantly worse off for it and it was apparent from the moment the deal was signed. |
I think that Alex is capable of catching fire in the playoffs and taking us to the promise land.

No, they won't just accept anything. If we did the exact same thing the Ravens just did, all we'd hear about is how much money Rahim Moore made Alice. |
I like Luck as player but I cant help but think of the Geico Caveman commercials when I watch him and hear him talk.
"QB of the Colts- So easy a caveman could do it". Then a cutaway to 5 head. |

Seriously, how high would a KC QB's stock be if he beat Denver and New England in the playoffs? |
Quote:
Everything about his countenance is so bizarre that you kinda lose sight of the fact that he's just an insane athlete. He's huge. He's smart. I ****ing hate that the Colts got him after Manning. It's just not fair. |

When our offense actually does that, I'll credit them for it. They haven't. |

We all want a winning football team and are elated as hell to see that on the field. You'd have a few naysayers here and there, but the vast majority wouldn't complain about a Flacco type performance in the playoffs. |

They didn't. |

And by the way, I'm still a bit upset about being called a baseball ass in the STL thread. So I'll consider this an apology. |

But they did actually score 30 points. With their offense. The Chiefs did not. Not even close. Had they done so, I would have given them credit for it. End of discussion. Colts offense > our poverty bullshit |

But because he looks/sounds funny and is conventionally articulate (instead of merely football articulate), we say stupid things like "well he's just such a cerebral QB..." No, we are dumb. He's not a 'cerebral' QB. He is, as you say, a football God. He's a broad-shouldered, cannon-armed, lightening quick genius of a gunslinger that will win a SB any season his team is 80% as good as the next best team available. !@#$. !@#$ you football Gods, for not making us suck a single year earlier. Goddammit, why do you hate us so!?!?!? |

Luck as our qb right now, we'd potentially be looking at a pats type dynasty |

Very nice job by the Colts to put up 30 points with their offense. A short field for sure, but they took advantage of it with the TD. For the Chiefs, thank god they eked out 19 points with theirs. You will notice they too had a pair of short fields, but did not get a TD off either of them. Colts offense clearly superior. Thank you, come again. |
**** Indy.
|
Can't believe we're using the Titans game as a barometer. That was the game where we blew a lead... game looked over in the 4th quarter... and Alex led a 10 play drive for a TD to re-take the lead. And that was in miserable weather conditions. That was a solid win.
|
If you want to look at it another way, the Chiefs had three scoring drives of at least 50 yards.
The Colts had four. The fact the Colts were also able to take advantage of a short field and turn it into a TD (the Chiefs were not) clearly also adds to their edge. This is not rocket science but I have to ****ing explain everything to you. |

In another universe where Oliver Luck didn't have the career that he did, his son Andrew would not have been surrounded by football so much growing up. Instead, you take his inner dork and put him on a more suitable path.
He likely would have become the world's greatest LARPer to ever exist. With that athletic ability? ****, man. Dude would have made an unbelievable paladin. |

Colts gave up a first round pick for a guy getting beat out by a RB that was buried on the depth chart by Ballard and Bradshaw to start the season
that is sad |
Quote:
That was a solid game for the Chiefs. The weather conditions were not favorable for offense. I was at the game. Receivers for both sides had a real difficult time getting clean separation and maintaining their footing on the field. I think they changed up cleats so the 2nd half offensive performance was better. At least that's my assumption... both offenses had a real hard time finding a rhythm in the first half. Still, Alex led a TD drive to give the Chiefs the lead in that game, and had multiple 20+ yard completions, which is your big thing. That was a game where he made plays when they absolutely had to be made and contributed to the team's victory. You seem very starved for attention. Even more than normal. |
