He had problems with nagging injuries during preseason once or twice two.

Well... Safety depth is always a nice thing. But then, this is the second year in a row that I feel like we're stockpiling Strong Safeties when we really need Frees.

It's possible but can't imagine he'd hype that guy because he's depth and not played well for the past few years.

Don't ever mention Fasano like that again. He's a scrub. The hope for that position lies with Kelce. Even McGrath is better than Fasano.

Some minor info....Chiefs are monitoring Henry Melton's situation. He's asking for the moon right now, but that price is dropping. If he doesn't sign with Minnesota, they might have him come in over the weekend.

I think the Chiefs will host quite a bit of guys over the weekend. Lots of quality players still available and the market is still settling.

Henry Melton would be a godsend. He'll kill if they try to block him 1 on 1 on passing downs. Please God let him come to us even if it's just a 1 year deal.

Henry Melton - DL - Bears
As day three of NFL free agency nears a close, Henry Melton is Rotoworld's top-rated defensive tackle left unsigned.
Melton is currently in Minneapolis visiting the Vikings. There is a healthy amount of defensive line talent still available, including Julius Peppers, Jared Allen, Antonio Smith, Corey Wootton, B.J. Raji, and Alex Carrington. For a comprehensive list of all the free agents left on the board, click the link below.

Two different positions. Houston is Peppers' replacement. Melton is an interior pass rusher.

I think Melton is the better pure pass rusher. Walker is a more balanced player though. We'd be able to sign Walker for a longer term deal, IMO. Melton is going to be a 1 and done cause he's going to want to get the most money he possibly can. Melton is essentially what Dominique Easley would be for us on passing downs.

This team is designed to win now. Melton on a 1 year deal is awesome, IMO.

Drafting an interior pass rusher and adding to a group of Melton/Bailey/Catapano would be exceptionally beneficial. In the case of Easley, this would be an excellent situation that enables him to learn/recover physically.

This of course is reliant on Sutton rotating our DL. So...

I can't see him wanting to do that. His production could go way down in our scheme and he'll be looking for a contract next year. If he ends up signing a one year deal, it will be with a team who run a similar scheme to the Bears. A scheme he's had success in. Melton is unrealistic imo but you never know. I think he'll sign with the Vikes or Raiders.

What I'm tired of reading is how the Chiefs have to budget for the future so they can afford extensions for Houston, Berry, Charles, Poe and Alex.

Dorsey went on a Supermarket Sweep shopping spree last year and signed complete meh players like Daniels, Fasano and then tagged Albert, when it probably wasn't absolutely necessary if you let him walk the year after. He should have stopped playing hardball with Miami. He knew what bills were coming due in 2015.

It's like they use it as an excuse not to upgrade now. I don't give a **** about Denver, or who else has upgraded.

You don't sit on your ass after the playoff loss to the Colts or coming off an 11-5 season when this team needs to establish constant winning and completely change a culture.

The 49ers and Seahawks have big time cap juggling coming up, yet, they still are upgrading despite having to pay some guys on rookie deals.

I'm just sick of reading how 2015 will be great. **** that. I could be dead by then. Sign some quality people now, keep an eye on the future, but play for ****ing 2014.

Sorry, off my soapbox now. Just annoyed.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about Donald. He's going to be gone by the first 15 picks.

If they sign Sanders, find a way to get Melton, and sign some depth at FS, I think they have to either go corner or pass rusher.

Apart from Alex Smith, though, it was our high priced free agents last year that were disappointing, and it was our scrap heap guys that ended up being Dorsey's best moves.

For as much bitching as there's been about losing Geoff Schwartz, let's not forget that it was signing a backup swing Guard/Tackle that supposedly turned our entire offensive line around. I really don't care if we stay out of the high-priced free agent market if Dorsey is extremely active and smart in picking from the second and third waves.

I really don't care if we stay out of the high-priced free agent market if Dorsey is extremely active and smart in picking from the second and third waves.

scrap heap guys aka we were #1 at the waiver priority so we took advantage of what the good NFL teams cut first.

something Fat Scott should have done the four years he was here but he has a Fat Ego. Dorsey was just doing what anyone with a normal brain should do in that position, but because you were never used to it or seen it done under Fat Scott, you think it's some genius strategy that led to taking advantage of being #1 on the waiver and having first dibs on everyone after training camp.

I don't care about who we lost either. I didn't think any of them would be back.

I just want upgrades in places and I don't want 2015 to be an excuse as to why we don't get them.
