Dyson swinging for the fences!

Great Expectations 05-06-2014 10:20 PM

Throw was in time, after watching in slo mo I think the tag was high on the steal attempt.

SPchief 05-06-2014 10:21 PM

Or not

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:21 PM

So bunt-loving, Ned, puts Dyson in and lets him swing away and leaves Moose on the bench???

Just WTF?

Great Expectations 05-06-2014 10:22 PM

Short porch in right, need to let Dyson (not Moose) take advantage.

-Ned

gblowfish 05-06-2014 10:23 PM

Saving Moose so he can K in the 12th.

SPchief 05-06-2014 10:24 PM

Hell of a tag. Don't mind it at all

C3HIEF3S 05-06-2014 10:30 PM

Not a bad play.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:30 PM

It's like clockwork, we get a guy on 3rd with less than 2 out and immediately pop up on the infield

OmahaChief 05-06-2014 10:30 PM

Be Royal.

alnorth 05-06-2014 10:30 PM

When you do something really crazy and get away with it, try not to follow up with another crazy move.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:30 PM

Time for Davis to blow the game here....

SPchief 05-06-2014 10:31 PM

Umm

kcjayhawks5 05-06-2014 10:31 PM

HE's SAFE!

KevB 05-06-2014 10:31 PM

How do you not challenge that?

gblowfish 05-06-2014 10:32 PM

Esky was safe. But too close to over turn it.

Al Bundy 05-06-2014 10:32 PM

Escobar was safe.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:32 PM

He was ****ing safe! Fever making excuses for Ned sitting in the dugout like a bitch.

I think everyone here who is seeing the replay says he was safe and at the very least it is worth a review. Ned sitting on his ass like a pussy.

gblowfish 05-06-2014 10:33 PM

Should I stay up late and watch this game?

KevB 05-06-2014 10:33 PM

Hud asks, "isn't it worth the try?"

Lefevere says nothing. He considers himself a purist, so he probably says no challenge on principle.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:34 PM

Fever still trying to make excuses for pussy Ned

kcjayhawks5 05-06-2014 10:34 PM

I mean how the **** do you not challenge that?

cosmo20002 05-06-2014 10:34 PM

Is there a reason not to challenge?

I can't see it, but I will say that in the 9th inning there's almost no downside to challenging even if you think the odds of a reversal are slim.

Hell no. Matlock comes on at 10pm California Time, and Ned doesn't want to miss it two nights in a row!

The ball clearly beat Esky, but the tag was higher on the leg instead of down by the foot. Foot comes across the plate as the tag is applied. Given that it may have won a game in the 9th, not sure HTF you don't challenge.

not much of one. Even if you lose, the umps retain the right to initiate a challenge on your behalf if something egregiously bad happens later.

The downside is if something really bad happens later, the umps fold their arms and say "nope", and you can't force them to look.

And that's what burns my ass...it's the top of the 9th, tie game..wtf do you have to lose? Get off your ass and go chew some ear. Maybe New York sees it your way but how do you know if you don't try?

gblowfish 05-06-2014 10:36 PM

Esky slid his foot under the tag. It was close, definitely worth a review. What other situation can you think of that's more important to challenge? Even if you lose, so what?

KevB 05-06-2014 10:37 PM

The good Wade Davis came to pitch tonight

C3HIEF3S 05-06-2014 10:37 PM

****ing awesome inning.

Buck 05-06-2014 10:37 PM

Well that was the most pathetic half inning of baseball I think I've seen this year for the Padres.

There was zero reason to not challenge that. ZERO, to much on the line. You lose NOTHING by challenging that.

And holy crap Wade

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:39 PM

Right now, Ned arguably has cost us the game by not trying to win.

Nightfyre 05-06-2014 10:39 PM

Ned Yost should be fired for that mistake. If we lose it is totally on him.

well, as far as "you lose NOTHING" goes, if you, hypothetically, really think the umps wont overturn, then you don't challenge.

gblowfish 05-06-2014 10:39 PM

Both of these teams are hopeless. My laptop is almost out of juice. Kitties are all asleep. Time to switch off the TV, fall asleep to the radio.

Bring home a winner boys.

I'm out.

Ned isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

CoMoChief 05-06-2014 10:40 PM

LMAO

wow that was a pathetic AB by Moose.

Ned needs to send that pos back down to Omaha.

alnorth 05-06-2014 10:41 PM

I wonder if its possible that Ned did not know that he still needs to challenge after the 6th inning if he hasn't challenged yet.

A lot of announcers screwed that all up to hell the first few weeks of the season, falsely thinking only umps could initiate challenges after the 6th.

C3HIEF3S 05-06-2014 10:41 PM

He's definitely going to have a hell of a time explaining that post game.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:41 PM

Couple Ned sitting in the dugout like a wimp with pinch hitting Dyson and letting him swing away when you have Moose, Butler and Maxwell on the bench...

I know you aren't watching, but it was close. To close to not challenge. When are you ever going to get a better opportunity to challenge a go ahead run in the 9th that was extremely close?

Still no excuse for him to sit on his ass about it. Even worse because it means he doesn't know the rules.

Could be an explanation. I'm sure not sure that Andy will ask though.

petegz28 05-06-2014 10:43 PM

I can see it now after the game:

Press: Why didn't you challenge the play at the plate?
Yost: You can do that?

KevB 05-06-2014 10:44 PM

What a horrifically bad offense we have gentlemen. Padres are the NL equivalent.
