I use fat free cool whip. Basically no calories. Doesn't taste as well thats for sure. But, its something sweet when there is a craving.

I have to brag about where I live for a minute. I've lost over 20 pounds since I moved here, and the hike I do almost every day at lunch is pretty much the main reason why.

I almost didn't do my hike today because it looks grey and miserable outside:

http://uploadbox.org/images/2015/01/09/lot.jpg

I managed to convince myself to do it, though, and it wasn't too bad going up, but still foggy:

http://uploadbox.org/images/2015/01/09/up.jpg

It got clearer as I got near the top:

http://uploadbox.org/images/2015/01/09/up2.jpg

And this was the view I got when I was up there:

http://uploadbox.org/images/2015/01/09/hike.jpg

I love it here. As long as I can help it, I will never return to Houston.

I had egg whites with my breakfast. I really didn't notice the yolk was missing. I also had delicious Apple pie flavored Greek yogurt for a snack. I couldn't find the chocolate Greek yogurt clay mentioned.

Wal-mart. It's like a $1 a yogurt.

Congrats! I wasn't trying to knock the pudding, it's great for a no carb diet. I was just amazed at how many calories that heavy cream has. I thought it would be high, just not that high.

Have worked out 3 of the last 5 days. Lost 2 lbs. I'm actually just looking to lose a little, but mostly tone up. Doing 8 dif dumbell excercises. The 2 hardest are stand on one leg and pick the weights from off floor and put back down 3 sets of 10. And lay on back, hold weight straight up and do 8 sit ups each side 3 sets. Abs be BURNIN!!!

Yea and even though you know it's not fat, the keto flush of water from the mid-line feels good anyway!

Mr. Flopnuts 01-10-2015 06:51 PM

Kudos Clay. I ****ing hate celery, but it's GREAT with hummus.

BigRedChief 01-10-2015 06:59 PM

Have you guys saw this different approach instead of counting calories?

Math? To plan dinner? Isn’t there a better way? Yes there is. Just take a look at your hand. Use your fist, palm, cupped hand, and thumb to practice calorie control – while avoiding the hassle of counting calories.

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times: The best — maybe even the only — way to lose weight is to count calories.

After all, it’s a pretty simple equation: Calories in vs. calories out. Eat more calories than you burn, and you gain weight. Eat fewer calories than you burn and you lose weight.

The rest here:
http://www.precisionnutrition.com/calorie-control-guide

Except counting calories isn’t that simple.

Hammock Parties 01-10-2015 07:10 PM

It's great. The crunch mimics the chips if not beats it outright, and the hummus is highlighted better by the lack of salt in the celery.

Sorry, but that is just stupid as ****. The size of something doesn't indicate how much nutrition you get from it. You can't tell how calorie dense it is.

I'm really glad you brought it up because I never would've thought of it and I love hummus. So I'm a really happy guy right now. I've sacrificed plenty. Good to get something back. I have decided that instead of doing other things I mine as well just work out. Being fat sucks and instead of having short term fun just get your work out game strong. Fun will come in time.

300lbs for me.

But it's all muscle, I swear.

Realistic goal of 250lbs before my wedding in October.

NewChief 01-12-2015 08:32 AM

Weighing tomorrow after a week. Had a pretty good weekend. Only drank 4 beers total all weekend, which is excellent for me. Did have some mixed drinks, but I'm not as worried about those as the beer.

Abstained from pizza night with the kids on Friday and had a chicken breast and salad instead. Didn't really overeat all weekend, and that's a pretty big accomplishment for me. It's easy for me to stay disciplined during the week, but I often get crazy on the weekend and diminish my hard work.

Oh, also worked out 7 of last 8 days.

I need some advice. In checking my upcoming schedule, I will have overtime the first two weeks in February (due to the restaurant industry gearing up for V-day,12 hour days) and in March I start my teacher cert course which will require several hours a day (for 8 months) on top of work. How do you guys do it? I mean, after I work I have zero energy to do much of anything. I do work online so I don't have the transit time to worry about, but how the hell do you keep the motivation up?

http://www.gnc.com/nuts-n-more-Peanu...uctId=50241276

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but the macros look damn good.

2 tbsps = 188 calories, 12g fat, 14g protein with 6 carbs and 5 dietary fiber (1 net carb). They've got it in different flavors as well. Pumpkin spice....chocolate.

Little on the expensive side at $10.

Try to find something that you actually enjoy doing that is also exercise. I could never make myself exercise for the sake of exercising, I'm way too lazy. Hiking, though, I look forward to doing every day.

KCUnited 01-12-2015 03:45 PM

I'm not in this challenge, but if you don't have a bunch of time for lunch, I've been using frozen package blends (Trader Joe's quinoa with kale, sweet potato, and carrots). Put a cup of it in a tupperware with some grilled chicken, microwave for 1:15 and you got about 10g fat, 26g carbs, and 62g protein on the quick.

I would highly recommend starting your day with a workout. My wife is an insanely busy person (like works 12-16 hour days), but she works out every morning between 5:00-6:00am. If she doesn't do it then, other stuff gets in the way.

Also, if you're working from home on your computer, you might start doing little 5-minute routines here and there throughout the day as a break from your work. Pushups, squats, lunges, mobility exercises, etc... I've never liked working out like that (prefer to just hit it hard for 30 minutes and be done), but I know a lot of people who have success with that way.

ThaVirus 01-12-2015 05:09 PM

You could just eat less if your main goal is to see a lower number on the scale.

It's a slow creep getting back up to running a 5k for a workout. Just did 2.5 myself today, I could feel my knee and groin tell me to stop so I did. Until some of this weight comes off, it's going to be slow going, but I did manage it at a 5.2 mph clip with a 6.0 mph burst the last quarter mile.

No, but it was pretty basic stuff - diced tomatoes, oregano, spices here and there, let simmer all day then feast...

And now there is no shortage of the healthier types of pasta than what I was using back then. When I was doing it, it was either think spaghetti or angel hair, lol. No whole wheat or multigrain stuff back then (or that I would look for).
