Happy for Hogan (no DD pun intended), but I hope Murray gets a decent shot.

I very highly doubt Dorsey or Reid view Hogan OR Murray as anything more than quality backups that they might be able to trade for an improved pick over what was originally spent on them.

One quarterback coach said that to change a delivery the QB has to throw about as many passes with new delivery as the player had bad delivery passes to change the habit. Thousands of passes through grade school, high school and college.

Footwork is another story completely, they will work on that hard.

Hand placement while in the pocket is another thing they will work on

Reid said they would be working with him a lot on his footwork.

They got Murray, a highly projected pick before the health issue, on the cheap-slot and are grooming him to take over. Unless that leg goes bum, you can absolutely take to the bank that he is your huckleberry.

You will never see John Dorsey move up to take a QB. Ever. And no one with real talent is going to fall past 15. Ever.

Shit, if he really wanted a premium prospect for training, he had an opportunity in Bridgewater. He was sitting right the **** there. But yeah, Dee Ford.

Murray was drafted to replace Daniel, not Smith.

And that part about QBs with talent not falling past 15....hahaha

Gimme a break.

Russel Wilson
Teddy Bridgewater
Derek Carr
Paxton Lynch

I'm sure I'm missing several guys, but you get the point.

These guys want Donovan McNabb, Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers as starters...not Aaron Murray or Kevin Hogan.

Just listen to how Dorsey speaks about players looking for extensions and how in depth he goes into strengths and weaknesses of guys.

These guys don't turn a blind eye to deficiencies of players.

And yet, Dee Ford.

Just ride it out for the next 5, you'll see I'm right.

The ownership is too risk averse to take a chance on drafting and developing the most important position on the team.

Smith will be replaced by some team's current backup four years from now. They'll try to build a team around a guy with obvious deficiencies.

You know. The same thing theyve done for the last 27 years.

You talk in absolutes like you actually know something instead of just giving an opinion. A poster points out a contradiction in your statement about QBs, and you mention Dee Ford as your rebuttal?

DaneMcCloud 05-10-2016 09:31 PM

There are many in the NFL community that doubt Bridgewater's ability to carry a team.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

nychief 05-10-2016 09:47 PM

I think Murray/Hogan will be given a chance eventually, be it by injury or regression. They've invested resources in QBs like no other Chief's regime (bringing in 5 QBs in 3 seasons), they were reportedly in on Manziel and Lynch as no. 1s, I don't know why people doubt that they are always looking to upgrade.

He played in a WC variation offense at Stanford, which is NO DIFFERENT in terms of the amount of experience preparing him for Andy Reid's offense than what Murray used at Georgia. They used WC concepts. Hogan is still going to get to Andy Reid's playbook, and he'll have to learn the whole thing from ****ing scratch, just like everybody else. And no, it's not just the terminology, either.

Murray's two years in the ACTUAL playbook he'll be using in the pros is far more valuable.

We'll see. Pre-season will reveal Hogan is just as up to speed if not more than Murray IMHO.

Did he not LIST Bridgewater as an option for the "kind of QB Reid and Dorsey want"?

Well, the little ****er was sitting right there.

And yet, Dee Fjord.

Oh...#Plinkett

Kevin Hogan sounds like the kinda name you'd see for a shitty white WR who everyone around ChiefsPlanet compares to Wes Welker.

e.g.) Lance Long.

David Shaw: Kevin Hogan should feel at home in Chiefs' offense

No rookie transition to the NFL is easy, particularly at quarterback.

But David Shaw believes Kansas City Chiefs rookie quarterback Kevin Hogan will have about as smooth a transition as he could hope for. The Stanford coach told reporters at Pac-12 Media Days on Friday that his former quarterback will have plenty of familiarity with the club's offense when training camp commences (Chiefs rookies are slated to open camp on July 26).

"I'm so excited for him, for many reasons. Number one, Andy Reid is one of the better quarterback guys in the league. They have a similar scheme," Shaw said in his press conference.

Hogan (6-foot-3, 218 pounds) threw 27 touchdown passes and only eight interceptions in Shaw's run-based offense as a senior last year. In the 2016 NFL Draft, the Chiefs plucked him in the fifth round. Hogan's senior season was the most effective of his career, and he led Stanford to a Pac-12 Championship. Reid made similar remarks about Hogan's familiarity with the Chiefs' offensive concepts following the draft.

Shaw traced the lineage of the West Coast offense in explaining why Hogan should feel right at home in Reid's offense.

"If you think about the branches of the West Coast offense, where of course it starts with Bill Walsh and Sid Gillman and then goes from Bill now down to Mike Holmgren, and on Mike Holmgren's staff was Andy Reid and Jon Gruden," Shaw said. "I worked for Jon Gruden. Most of our offense is directly down from the Jon Gruden line, whereas Andy Reid has got his own line, so it's really, really similar, but just some different nuances, and a lot of it is familiar to Kevin."

Hogan figures to compete for the No. 2 job in Kansas City behind Alex Smith, who set his career high in passing yardage last year (3,486) as an 11th-year veteran.

It would be funny if Hogan turned out to be a solid starter, because a lot of people liked him, but everybody labeled him a career backup. I can't think of one draft guru that said he could be a starter.

Buehler445 07-16-2016 07:36 PM

I was expecting the headline, "hogan tears ACL playing basketball." Shit again.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-16-2016 07:44 PM

I would love for Hogan to be a great player, but the guy was never more than a game manager in college. The Chiefs should feel fortunate if the guy is good enough to be a third QB.

Well hell, a game manager, you say?

Perfect for KC.
