What's going on in Cincinnati? A new Star Wars-themed bar, that's what.

Cincinnati is derived from the Roman general "Cincinnatus," a civilian who took charge of the government/military in time of war, and upon the war's conclusion, reverted back to civilian life without attempting to take over the country as a dictator. George Washington was an excellent example of a modern Cincinnatus.

They should probably rename the city for whatever "whiny douche" is in Latin.

I just assumed it was Italian for “settling for less”.

Always thought Carson Palmer was a huge douche ever since that episode of hard knocks when he was super fussy about how his Gatorade tasted. He deserved the antifreeze variety.

One year apart in age. 2 MVPs and 2 Ships apart in accomplishments.

Joe is lucky to play number two to a football god like Pat. He’ll be in the story just in small print

Joe is a great NFL QB. It will be a rivalry for the next few years. How long it lasts will be decided by health and how well the underlying organizations manage the teams.

That said F the bungles.

So, Patrick has 2 rings and 2 MVPs. If you claim that Burrow is going to have more of each, that means that you think Burrow will win at least 3 rings and 3 MVPs.

Players who have won 2 MVPs

Peyton Manning - 5
Aaron Rodgers - 4
Tom Brady - 3
Jim Brown - 3
Brett Favre - 3
Johnny Unitas - 3
Joe Montana - 2
Kurt Warner - 2
Steve Young - 2
Patrick Mahomes - 2

Quarterbacks who have won 2 rings

Tom Brady - 7
Joe Montana - 4
Terry Bradshaw - 4
Troy Aikman - 3
Eli Manning - 2
Peyton Manning - 2
Ben Roethlisberger - 2
John Elway - 2
Jim Plunkett - 2
Bob Griese - 2
Roger Staubach - 2
Bart Starr - 2
Patrick Mahomes - 2

Three MVPs would put Burrow among the top 6 all-time. Three rings would put Burrow among the top 5 all-time among QBs. That's pretty rarefied air. Burrow would have to play some outstanding football to get on either list, but to reach three of each would require some unbelievably good play. It's not impossible, but would seem to be pretty unlikely when you look at the teams that are lined up to stop him from getting there.

However, that all presumes that Patrick is done winning rings and MVPs. He isn't. Patrick is just 27 years old and already has 2 of each. One more of each is absolutely within reason and that would mean your prediction would be for Burrow to win 4 of each while also playing at the same time as Mahomes.

Going any further with this reasoning gets really silly, but not because Mahomes is incapable of 2 or more rings/MVPs, but because it gets laughable for what Burrow would have to do in order to top it.

Methinks your prediction is unlikely at best and unbelievably arrogant/stupid at worst.

ETA - Notice that there is only one name listed that has at least 3 rings as starting QB and at least 3 MVPs. That is Tom Brady. Maybe you should back off of this prediction until Burrow has at least 1 ring and/or 1 MVP under his belt.

That's actually a brilliant move for bengal fans. When they're suddenly hit with a bout of immediate bowel expulsion after eating skyline chili they can drop their pants anywhere and shitting on their shoes will go unnoticed.

I am thankful that although I was born in Ohio, my parents had both lived in MO before being out there. They realized how bad Ohio sucked and moved back to NWMO, which isn't some awesome spot in itself.

I would have been a Browns or Bengals fan. And that's just something I'm incredibly thankful that I'm not.

That's all they really care about in Ohio. We might see the NFL fans here but it goes like this in Ohio:

1. Ohio State

2. Every other sports team in the state

Everything about ohio is just bland and vanilla. The food is all tasteless, everyone there still smokes in their cars with the windows rolled up, it’s always gray and dingy outside and the cities are all run down old rust belt cities. I could go on and on, but I work quite a bit up there and it makes me appreciate living in Orlando that much more. I haven’t lived in KC in a while, but it is a much better city to live in compared to anywhere in ohio.

Burrow is good, no doubt, BUT he's been fortunate throughout his carreer. At LSU, he played on one of the best college football teams of all time, which was LOADED with NFL talent... Also has been very fortunate to play with all those talented WR#1's in Cincinnati. Wonder what he could do with a receiving room that was not ultra talented beyond belief? :hmmm:

Exactly. Like I say. Put Patrick on that Bridesmaids offense with those weapons and he probably goes undefeated. Put Joey on the Chiefs offense from last year and does he even make the playoffs?

RunKC 04-15-2023 03:55 PM

Joe Burrow last 5 playoff games:

1,234 yards
247 avg/game
7 TD’s/3 INT’s

Not very good with all those weapons

It sounds like they are keeping both Higgins and Chase. The bigger question will be their defense over time. That Cincy defense has been the best in the Playoffs the last 2 years, never allowing more than 23-24 points in 7 Playoff games.

Really find it hard to believe mike browns cheap ass would do that. I kind of wonder if they’re just dialing up his trade stock. Would be hilarious if they signed Higgins only to realize they couldn’t afford chase.

Dude is just like Brady. Good but grossly overrated and gets all the credit while getting carried, and he's immune to criticism.

There. That last part.

Even on this forum, dudes will accuse you of defensive behavior and homerism if you lob a criticism or two at Burrow.

The douche is untouchable in the national media. It’s time somebody made some steaks out of that sacred cow.

Brady had his Manning & Roethlisberger. So far no one has stepped up and won AFC Super Bowls in the Mahomes era(Brady got the one & only).

Brady won and actually is a humble guy to listen to as crazy as that may sound. Burrow hasn't won anything, despite having elite weapons, and appears to be an arrogant cuck. He is like if Belichick was an actual QB instead of a coach.
And we have all found out that BB was carried by Brady for two decades as he can't win crap without him.
I have come to admire and respect Brady over the past couple of years.
But I have no admiration for Belichick who I think is overrated and had good football people around him to enable all the success.
Brady was lucky, no doubt about that. But he was also clutch and finished the job when called for.

I can’t believe that I am agreeing about a guy I spent so much time hating. But I agree most of my hate probably comes from the patriot way and ESPN/barstool being patriot lackeys. But I definitely gained an appreciation because of his relationship with mahomes. A lot of what I hate is his competitive intensity but now better appreciate that that’s exactly what I love about mahomes since he’s on our side this time.

Direckshun 05-16-2023 11:39 AM

Burrow is awaiting an extension. Here's a list of the free agents the Bengals will have in 2024:

DJ Reader
Tyler Boyd
Tee Higgins
Jonah Williams
Chidobe Awuzie

Ostensibly they're going to have to ink Chase sooner than later, as well.

Right now the Bengals have $60m in cap space for next year, which is a great amount, but it's pre-Burrow extension.

Direckshun 05-16-2023 11:42 AM

PFF (I know) projects that Burrow signs a 4 year contract worth $216m.

$54m/year

Seems reasonable, honestly. Would be fascinated to see how it's structured.

That's a bargain, assuming he follows Mahomes' lead and take a relatively team-friendly deal.

That is a bargain if he signed something like that although there is fewer years to move money around.

RedinTexas 05-16-2023 01:37 PM

Cincinnati is a notoriously cheap franchise. You would have to think twice about signing a team-friendly deal with them. It doesn't mean that Burrow won't, but he might be thinking about a future that doesn't include the Bengals unless they fork over some serious coin.

They'd have a REALLY hard time signing him to that deal and keeping a quality team around him. I mean, unless they did the fancy new 'void years' thing and pushed all of the cap hits into seasons that don't actually exist.

In which case they'll have themselves a 4-year window and then cap Armageddon.

Then again, I believe the Saints are presently projected to be like $85 million over the cap next season without any draft picks signed so, I guess cap hell ain't what it used to be.

Those guys tapdance around raindrops every year and appear to just be waiting to bottom out altogether so they can nuke the whole thing.

Bull effing shit. They at times carried each other but Brady was never some TD machine. He has no playmaking ability to take over a game with evading defenders . He won a lot of close games because Bills defense made it possible. Bill has no QB worth a shit. Any coach would look like shit. I will say though that Bill should not be the GM and his staff is shit. He sucks at it.
