Why is that?

Because I don't think 4 superconferences is going to happen and it still doesn't keep happening?

One of the reasons for the big disparity in revenues is because the conference gets to keep all the BCS money while the NCAA gets to keep the majority of the NCAA basketball money. The NCAA Tournament comprises almost the entire operating cash the NCAA uses to put on tournaments in all non football sports for all member institutions and their jobs for regulating the system.

If Super Conferences come about, it is highly likely these Super Conferences will form their own post season basketball tournament. Exactly how that affects the NCAA and all the Non-BCS activities it supports is not exactly clear, but it is not "chump change". And if the format changes, basketball won't be viewed as just an afterthought like baseball.

Of course basketball matters. The tournament is the lifeblood of NCAA sports. Without there's just minor league football and nothing else.

LMAO

Football rules supreme. Basketball is #2, but it's a distant 2.

Basketball is the life blood of the NCAA, but the BCS rules the schools...

ROFL - I can't think of a guy on here that is more often off-base than you. Seriously, congrats on the consistency.

Financially it's no secret.

Over 90% of the NCAA's budget comes from the basketball tournament media deals.

I didn't write, it's right here...

Yeah, throw in TCU, whatever they are, and you've got a pretty ecumenical group of God-fearing football fanatics going for you. Too bad the Methodists had to cheat and get their strong SMU program killed off.

It depends on the school. The high profile basketball programs bring in ridiculous amounts of money.

The Financial Times sports analyst said that just looking at football is ignorant if the basketball program makes money. The best programs in basketball are golden children that are coveted.

Translation: Since my football team sucks, I'll pretend to have no interest in it.

There have been 4 major moves to\from conferences recently:

Colorado: bad as basketball, bad at football
Boise St: bad at basketball, good at football
Nebraska: bad at basketball, good at football
TCU: bad at basketball, good at football

Tell me again about how basketball fits into this equation.

Titty Meat 08-15-2011 03:15 PM

Hey Saul who will represent the muslims in the new conference?

CoMo is just as bad.

Though with CoMo it's more entertaining because he appears to at least be somewhat sentient, just completely incapable of being correct on a sports take.

Wickedson, OTOH, appears to be a barely functioning half-wit. It's a lot like laughing when Corky from Life Goes On can't figure out differential calculus or quantum mechanics - it's just not that entertaining to pick on the reeruned kid.
