I've had people reach out to me over the years or number of personal reasons and I would NEVER be compelled to reveal these people or our conversations.
I've cleared up "Bad Blood" that existed in the forum and became pretty good friends with some people after that.
Private messages are intended to be PRIVATE. If you want to be an asshole and post private messages, be my guest.
You sure won't make many friends that way, nor will you gain an ounce of respect.

You clearly don't understand the difference between people reaching out to you for personal reasons and people sending hostile "private" messages. You're trying to apply the same rules to both types of messages.
Obviously only a douchebag would betray the confidence of someone who reached out for personal reasons. That's not what everybody is talking about. If somebody sends me a private message asking for advice about a personal matter or just confiding something that they obviously don't want shared, then of course I would respect their confidence. But if somebody decides to be a prick and sends hostile PMs to somebody else, then it's idiotic to say the recipient isn't allowed to share those kind of bullshit PMs with the community.
By the way, I never send or receive PMs, so I don't have a dog in this fight. I just think it's silly to say that there's some kind of binding covenant that applies to ALL private messages on an anonymous message board like this. You can call this bullshit if you like, but I suspect the majority of posters disagree with you.
