Field conditions shouldn't be quite as concerning as they have been in the past, because they installed that field heating system this past Spring. So, even if it's cool and wet, a lot of the on-field dilemmas are likely negated.

Hopefully something drastic changes with the forecast. The freezing rain would be the absolute worst just for the commute to Arrowhead.
My plane lands at 10 AM Friday and plan on taking my son to Dave and Busters right after that. I suspect we might be stuck in parts of Saturday so thankfully there's things to do at the hotel. |

It very well may - it's WAY early. |
They are actually re-sodding the field at Arrowhead right now, Mark Donovan mentioned it in his press conference today.

That freezing rain has been in the forecast models for a while now. That's why I thought it may help keep Steeler fans away. Gonna be hard to fly in if there's an ice storm.
Of course it's still several days out at this point... but it's a bit unsettling that it's been in the long range forecasts for a while now. Really any ice, period, is going to make it tough for people to get to the game, let alone make them want to sit outside. I actually wondered what would happen in the worst-case scenario and it really did develop into a devastating ice storm, would they postpone a playoff game? |
