Well, Ventura pretty much kicked ass today. Great velocity, movement and location on his pitches. He picked off one runner with a wicked pickoff move and throw. One thing I will say is that he needs to learn to mix his pitches better. At this point he's a terrific thrower who needs to learn to pitch. He got taken deep for one homerun and the other hit bounced off the top of the 12 foot centerfield wall. Final line: 7 IP 2H 1R 2BB 7K The official line doesn't include a batsman he hit in the walk total for whatever reason.

The more I think about it the more I like the Josh Johnson idea. We trade for him and re-sign him to a five year extension which also increases his 2013 salary. Totally win/win.

I mean, just for kicks, let's assume Johnson is worth ~20 mil per year. He is controlled for 2013 at 13.75. If you wrote up a contract worth ~90 million evenly divided over 2013-2017, I think he would take that. Which would be a great deal for both sides.

Glass isn't going to green light that type of deal. He's previously said that the organization would never have a $100M player.

If Glass is unwilling to spend on pitching, we may as well sell all of our talent now, because we don't have enough pitching to be competitive in the near future.

If thats the case, it's gonna be tough to compete.

A move I think would have been an idea for the Royals, would have been to buy on Hanley when the price was low. Put him at SS and move Escobar to 2nd. Make any sense?

Exactly the reason this thread has turned into apathy or venom. Royals fans are quickly realizing this franchise will be in the shitter until the glass family gives up ownership.

Eh. HRam has a huge contract and he constitutes a large amount of risk in that respect. Also, I would leave Esky at short and move HRam to 2nd in that scenario.

Escobar would be the player switching positions if the Royals had acquired Ramirez.

Escy is a great defensive SS. Ramirez has been below average for a long time now.

I want to take a shit in the mouths of the Glass family.
