I guess I'm one of the few that thinks the Chiefs are fine at ILB. Loved Belcher's play last year.

Both have been greeted by seemingly soft markets, but it doesn't appear the 49ers are going to swoop in and try to re-sign either to bargain-basement deals. Franklin should still be in line for a nice payday.

Or, we could simply continue to add talent, then let the players decide who plays through competition. Novel concept I guess.

I think Belcher is an ascending player that people wanted to be great right out of the gate.

Not going to get that with a project small school player.

However, his progression from year 1 to year 2 was outstanding.

If his progression this year matches that of last year, anyone that we might sign will have a tough time displacing him.

Still, bringing someone in for competition and to start if he doesn't progress can only improve this team.

If the Chiefs were going after Shanle to play the middle, I imagine they are going to go after Lofa.
