YUNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

However, its a disturbing move by DM, because its not like infield utility is this rare hard-to-fill position. There are literally dozens and dozens of players he could have picked up for dirt nothing who are at least as good as, if not perhaps better than Yuni. |

He's a fringe player as a starter. He's well above average as a backup. |

I guess it's good that we've come far enough that we can now argue over the validity of a utility player signing. |
Whenever I find time to go to a movie, I intentionally pay money to see the worst available one playing at the theater.

I am sorry for my knee-jerk reaction. I can understand it on some levels and it isn't a huge issue at all but I agree with alnorth, plenty of others would could have filled this role. |
Again, one-year deal means it's not a huge deal. Nevertheless, when a team is looking for a "utility man," you're basically looking for a glove. Bats play. If the player could swing it, he wouldn't be a utility man; he'd be a starter.
So we sign someone who sucks shit in the field. Smart. You want pop off the bench? Cool. Betancourt isn't that player either. It's just an all-around, stupid, flawed decision, but it's one that can be brushed off a bit because it's relatively harmless. I will note that it's funny that Rany said that the signing shouldn't "hurt the team too much." Always good. Not "this is a decent move." Not "this makes the team better." In this case, we're discussing the degrees of negative and stupidity. Vintage Dayton Moore. |
Wonder what happened with that Navarro(wasn't that his name?) dude that came from the Red Sox. They never gave him much of a chance

So what do you think are the "odds" that Greinke will want to come back to the Royals?
