I have lost all my doubt that i had for Self he is now my favorite coach all time at KU and i hope we can keep him interested for a tenure like coach k has/is had/having at Duke!

also i just noticed that Brandon Rush scored 12 points without missing a shot

Wrong. Roy's teams were not tough enough to survive these type of games. Roy's team would have folded in a game like this.

Virgina 1995(?)
Syracuse (1996)
Illinois (2000)
Maryland (FF 2002)

I forgot to mention those games against Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament and at OU in which Roy's finesse teams folded under the hard nosed, physical pressure.

I agree and I've been watching KU for 50 years.

BINGO...you know your history...Roy choked on MANY occasions...

this team can win scoring 90, and win scoring 60...that's a GOOD THING

SIU was tough as hell, no shame at all...win and advance...win and advance...nothing else matters

ROCK CHALK

Oh yes. I almost forgot about those games. Marcus Phizer, the ISU guards ( can't remember their names ) , and company really made KU look like their bitches. :shake:

SIU played a great game, but in the end, you're no ORU or DePaul.

I have not scanned through this entire thread so I am sure it has been brought up before; I am ecstatic the Hawks won and moved on. Any team that wins the Nat. Title has to have a game like this during their tournament run and the key is to gut it out and find a way to win. That being said SIU is about the dirtiest, grabbing grab grabbers that ever grabbed in a basketball game. And all the constant hand checking, arm slapping, and pushing they get away with is ridiclulous. If I was a MVC fan I would shot myself rather than watch that crap, its not good basketball its a belief that the refs can't call every foul so lets maul the ball handler every time. If that game was called anywhere near "by the book" SIU would have fouled every player out by halftime.

Bottom line better team won and is moving on; 3 more to go boys!!

The refs took four points away from SIU on horribly obvious no-calls and they lost by three. Pretty easy math.

Now, KU is obviously the more talented team, but they just weren't prepared for that D. UCLA plays great D also (although they didn't look that spectacular last night). Self better prep them a little better for the next one.
