I'm sure Lew Perkins made more selling his gym equipment than what KU basketball brought in.

(But seriously - **** you man, comparing MU basketball to KU football is like saying I root for a keystone cops version of the Taliban or something.) |

Next up on the "please move your game to the Longhorn Network" tour is Kansas State, according to the Austin paper:
Rebuffed by Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma State, Texas and its ESPN partner have approached Kansas State as a possible second game to be broadcast on the Longhorn Network this fall. As of now, only the Rice game will be shown on the network, assuming it finds some carriers. Asked to confirm KSU as a partner, Dodds texted that Texas is "looking at all of our home games." |

He's changed this from a University argument to an NCAA argument. Nobody's ever said boo about the NCAA - the NCAA is nothing more than a governing body. The NCAA isn't driving any of this and that's been the discussion: Football fuels conference re-alignment. That's been the thesis that he's attempting to refute and he's doing so with an argument that doesn't even begin to speak to the underlying thesis (as the NCAA doesn't ultimately decide the conferences). Wickedson's inability to compartmentalize between the NCAA and its member institutions/conferences has led him to attempt some bastardized argument that is basically a non-sequitur. Like I said - He's sitting in a corner arguing nothing with the wall. He's Brick Tamland screaming "LOUD NOISES!!!!" while the adults speak. There's just not a lot of entertainment value there. |
Ranked in terms of profit basketball and football mixed from the '09-'10 school year.
http://businessofcollegesports.com/2...rgest-profits/ One basketball program makes the top 30 and it is not who you would think. Kansas basketball comes in at #73 just above Missouri basketball at #83 interestingly enough. Mizzou football comes in at #35. |

Just checking:
Does anyone think that BBall is in the same universe with football as far as money, TV, and attendance overall? |

They're looking at conference prestige and overall profitability. For the SEC, they simply do not care about basketball so they don't see an appreciable boost in prestige and they certainly don't see a massive boost in profitability. The B1G, OTOH, fancies itself something of a basketball school and could possibly see adding a 'marquis' basketball school to the stable as enough of a prestige boost to consider it. I know nobody else thinks that KU to the B1G has any merit, but it seems possible to me for that reason if nothing else. A large part of B1G country are hardcore CBB fans; adding KU to the conference could be a great fit for them. |
