It really shouldn't at this point.

What's the benefit?

It looks like the sentence for 2nd degree murder (the depraved heart murder I discussed above) is 25 years w/ the possibility of parole after 10.

If you're Ruggs lawyers and can get 10 years with no parole, I think you're wise to take them up on that offer. Plead no contest to the DUI/Homicide charge, keep 2nd degree murder off the table and lock in your sentencing.

Yeah, if they have a witness that said the girl was screaming, you take what you can get and do your time.

Certainly that. However, there are hundreds of drunk (using the legal definition) drivers probably nightly in most large American cities and very few, if any, travel at anywhere close to that rate of speed. Just a sad and terrible deal all the way around.

How many of the average joe drunks are in their early 20's thinking they are unstoppable after signing a few million dollar deal?

Its crazy, if Ruggs would have crashed and killed himself everyone would be memorializing him. Unfortunately, he stole the life of a young lady through his selfish decisions.

I'm not sure anyone would be memorializing him for being drunk and traveling at 156mph.

On a side note, kinda curious why she was out at that hour. Initially I thought she may be going to/from work, but not with her dog. And not trying to shift any blame, just wondering what may have prompted what was a very fateful decision.

You don't have to be a millionaire to think you are unstoppable in your early 20's. Anyway, certainly nothing further here to debate or whatnot, bad deal all the way around.

hoping a GoFundMe for her family is in the works, or perhaps already set up. Would gladly like to contribute.

You're probably not coming from or going to a real job with your dog at that hour, and its Vegas... so the pics kinda have me thinking escort

But yeah, none of that matters now... she was someones daughter, and didnt deserve this

Eh, it's Las Vegas. It's quite possible that she worked at a casino or something.

Oh, but she had her dog with her, and this article says that she was heading in the direction of her home: https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/...paths-2471162/.

I'm not sure where you'd be with your dog that would have you coming home at 3 am. Hanging out at a friend's house, maybe?

autopsy will know if she was alive or dead before the fire hot on her.

But, 156 mph with a BAC .15 in a city like Las Vegas. That’s stupid sober.

Yeah I was speculating pretty hard there, maybe reading too much into it... there are any number of perfectly innocent reasons for someone to be out late

Its a tragedy, and the only person at fault here is Ruggs

Not blaming the girl anyone should be able to go out at whatever hour and live their life but **** the saying nothing good happens after midnight is so true. Too many stupid selfish mother****ers like Ruggs in this world.

I get the message from Carr. If Ruggs is any sort of human being, he hates himself more than anyone else could right now. My uncle hit and killed a small child that ran out into the street in front of his car several years ago. Not even his fault, so can't imagine the guilt for taking a life from your own negligence like Ruggs. Fortunately for my uncle he became really close with the family and they were able to heal together.

My dad is the type where you get in an accident that isn’t your fault and he will grill you why were you on that street, why did you do this and that. He can be frustrating at times I’ll tell you that.
