Don't look now, but the Koz is heating up!!!
|
Baby Pedro on the mound if anyone wants to see it.
|
Interesting that a guy w/ an .820 career OPS and almost 170 MiL HRs is just now getting a shot.
|
99 moving in on a right? Uh, sure.
|
Great game. :thumb:
|
+24, keep it climbing.
|
That run differential is amazing. +140. Next closest team is Detroit with +102.
I know it doesn't mean anything, but it's pretty . :D |
Great blowout, woot woot.

Stop ****ing with Martinez. Either leave him in Memphis and let him start there, or bring him up and let him start here. Enough with this bullpen shit.
|
Quote:
Maybe he is having issues being in the USA, away from home. Getting use to travel, how do you pack a bag, say give me the steak and eggs in english etc. I read an interview with a player in the Larussa era that they were brought up to travel with the club, work with Cardinals to learn how live here. Forget who it was now. He was getting the next start of Lynn or Westbrook if they fell off the cliff. They are not going to fall off the cliff next week. Send him down to stay in shape. |
Thats all fine, but Martinez is the next ace, he's every bit as good as Shelby, stuff wise.
He needs to be starting somewhere. Either bring him up to start, or leave him there to start every 5 days. |
Quote:
Or the 3rd possible option, he was possible trade bait that didn't work out. You read Goulds chat on STL today? He had a bit in there that there are some in the Cardinals org that think his stuff is electric but he will never be consistent because he can't locate his stuff or something like that. Wonder if they are preparing the fan base for a trade? Not this year, but in the off season would you give up say Taveras and Martinez for Profar? |
Quote:
Of course, Matheny won't do that. |
Quote:
Taveras is the CF of the future for better or worse at this point. He's untouchable, especially for a SS who has been underwhelming this year. |
And if you feel he can't locate, he needs to be throwing every 5 days so that electric stuff can be located.
From what my dad heard from someone in the know, they pretty much fell/felt that Martinez was untouchable. |
Profar is young, but he has been ****ing awful this year. I don't think I'd trade Wacha for him at this point.
To be honest, most Rangers prospects have been horribly overrated. Olt was just traded for K-Rod's washed up ass, Smoak was a disaster, and Profar looks like Alexei Ramirez at the dish while playing subpar defense at every IF position. A lot of teams have reputations for overrating their prospects, and it's fair to say the Rangers are one. |

Guys,
Just so you know, you may get some weird posts from me tonight, because my back really flared up about 90 minutes ago, and about a half hour ago I took a Tylenol 4, and I am ****ing wasted. |

But if I'm moving a package of Taveras AND Martinez, it better damn well be for more than Profar. |

Quote:
I was thinking more so doing it for a SS, but doing it for a pitcher wouldn't be a bad idea. Although I would rather do it for a lefty if we are in a perfect world. Hypothetically, would you move those 2 for Cole Hamels? |
Quote:
Here is who I would move those two for: Mike Trout Miguel Cabrera Matt Harvey Kershaw Verlander Cargo |
Quote:
If I were moving those 2 in a package, I'd add in Wong and go get a stud. Personally, with the success the Cardinals have had with their own prospects, I'm not keen on moving anyone, but if you can do it for a cornerstone, you do it. |
I have hopes that in a few years, we go outbid the Angels for Trout.
|
Quote:
Hamilton signed through 2017 and the deal is heavily backloaded. The final year is worth a staggering $32 million. Which means that in 2018, the LA Angels will have shed a $32 million payroll obligation from the year before. Guess when Mike Trout becomes a free agent? Yup, 2018. And don't think for a moment that the Angels didn't have that in mind when they offered Hammy the deal they offered him. Folks - the bidding on Mike Trout starts at $32/million because the Angels clearly worked that into their salary structure. You really think the Cardinals are going to be able to beat that? |
Quote:
Yup. There is 0 chance that the Cardinals ever sniff Trout unless there is a Joe Horn situation in that locker room, or if Moreno ends up in financial straits like McCourt (and fat chance of that). |
I don't think the Cardinals would or will ever go outbid a team like the Angels for someone. It's not economical for them IMO.
However, if Taveras is what they think he is, it won't matter. I'm looking forward to the future potential rotation we can toss out there. Waino Miller Martinez (if he works out) Wacha (if he works out) Lynn/Rosenthal |
O, they don't need him. They are the Cardinals they just reload.
|
Sure, they don't "need" him, but I don't think anyone wouldn't take him.
|
Anyone here ever rip their nose hair out with their bare hands?

When Jay and Kozma are hitting you know things are going well.
Phillies fans have to hate the Cardinals so ****ing much ROFL ROFL |
Kozma with a much better approach as of late. Jay as well.
|
Why not sit Yadi tonight? Matheny just seems bound and determined to eviscerate his knee cartilage.
|
Quote:
If those guys will ever stop winning 2/3 of their ballgames, the Cardinals will probably give Yadi a rest. Matheny wants to stay the hell out of that wild card game and it's awfully hard to rest your best player when you've got the best record in baseball...and a 2 game lead. |
Quote:
If he never rests Yadi the division may end up being a Pyrrhic victory. |
Quote:
You can't argue the logic of resting Yadi. At the same time, it's easy to see why he doesn't. Moreover, it seems damn near impossible to get the gear off the guy anyway. |
Quote:
And holy shit, Freese's IMO commercial is  |
Odds that after we score 3 runs, Lynn comes right back and gives up a run or two?
I'd say it's damn near 50/50 |

And there ya go.
I ****ing hate that shit and he's one of the worst at it. |
Good play there.
|
Other than the walks Lynn has looked pretty good tonight, quality start.

I feel tired.

I want to thank the Cardinals for putting a dagger into the hearts of the Phillies so they can do the right thing for the team and sell at the deadline.
I say that with absolutely no sarcasm. The Phillies were in fool's gold territory by barely hanging in there, and the team was close to buying. Now I don't see any way they do. They are not a good team anymore and Cardinals fans are seeing that first hand. The Cardinals pretty much have everything you need to be a great team. They are going to be hard to beat and I am incredibly jealous of their clutch hitting and how they work the pitcher and foul off balls and stay alive in their ABs. Something this team hasn't done for years, even when the Phillies were winning. |
You guys were killed by your GM. Amaro should be indicted for war crimes with the genocide he's performed on your franchise.
|
Yes, we were. Once Gillick stepped down, it was all down hill. Amaro has done a very poor job and he is not a popular man in Philadelphia to say the least. He isn't going anywhere. Ownership loves him. There are dark(er) days ahead for the franchise.
|
Why would they love him? He saddled the team with huge contracts for declining and broken down players, liquidated the farm system, and has been wholly unable to replace the existing talent through the draft.
|
Nicely done.
|
They love him because he is one of "their guys" so to speak. He was in the organization for a while and as a player too and they just love him. It will take a couple more years of this before he is on the hot seat. The Phillies don't have the best ownership in the world. They spend money, but they were lucky they hired Gillick who had a proven championship vision.

Good win, big road trip upcoming.

3-2 is just the natural order of a 5 game series. In a 3-gamer, a sweep can be the result of a bad bounce or two, but over enough games the bad bounces will even out. 3-2 either way doesn't change things at all. And frankly, if we go 1-4 or 0-5, we absolutely deserve to sweat. |
Or if we go in a sweep the paper tiger Pirates, it's all good.
|
We're going to have to play well though, because our schedule from here out is pretty tough.
|
|
I was looking at some contracts and we have alot of money potentially coming off the books next year.
What do you do with it? |
Quote:
After that, this is the worst FA class I can remember. If you need innings, you could make a small push for Dick Nolasco, but I bet the Dodgers overpay him by 60%. |
Santana for Wong? Interest?

Really? Unused asset for you. Definite help this year, with a possibility to work an extension.
