It's not his arm strength that scares me...it's his fear to use it that does.
53 attempts over 20 yards in the last two years combined. He only completed 21 of them. |

Or did a coach decide after seeing two games of kaepernick that his HAND PICKED QB was ready to take over? Yes, me stating that Kaepernick is the better qb is alexs balls on my chin, and in no way a reflection of your stubborness, and refusal to use fundamental reading comprehension. YOu just want to go with alex smith got benched, and you guys traded for a scrub back up because clearly the black penis of Geno Smith as per your avatar, is squarely mushroom stamping you on the fore head right now. Remember to coddle the balls, or he may not tip you. |

24 starts and only he only completed 21 passes over 20 yards over that span?
WOW I truly didn't think it was that bad. |

According to the 49ers fans, the plays were called, but Alex Smith wouldn't throw the pass unless the receiver was wide open.

If Reid thinks he's gonna raise the attempts for Alex and that will translate to more production, Alex Smith is gonna end up getting sacked 60 times.
He got sacked 44 times in 2011 behind one of the best lines in football and only throwing 445 passes. Foles/Vick threw 616 passes last year combined...that means Alex would take OVER 60 sacks with that many attempts. |

Guys like Alex Smith don't force you to defend the deep halves and therefore defenses are able to bring guys closer to the line. That makes it tougher on the running game as well as putting you at risk for more sacks because of the box being stacked. And here we are in KC thinking we would finally get rid of Cassel, only to have restarted the movie again. |

yes, again, im a guy that admits to all of alex smiths limitations, yet im a deep throater. Lol, i heart stupid people. they make me feel better about myself. |
im actually amazed that Alex Smith has a fan base. That there are people out there that actually follow Alex Smith, the person/player
that is interesting in itself |

im invested in the Chiefs wasting things on a shitty investment that is going to make me waste investing the next 3 to 4 years watching them
so yes, the invest affects me, I dont care his story to know his red flags as a player, durability, noodle arm, cant bring a team back from a huge deficit, he's deep ball accuracy, etc. he may be a smart nice guy with a great charity but hes totally limited by his physical skill set and that football IQ/awful physical tools doesnt fly anymore in the NFL, its not the 80s or 90s anymore. You win with fast or big QBs with strong arms and good pocket awareness, Alex Smith is NONE of that. |

ill talk to you in january when the team finishes 6-10 and everyone wants this crappy QB cut and the FO fired after another depressing season with high expectations and tons of homerism going into it.
|
You guys keep talking about his inability to throw the deep ball. Who the hell was he supposed to be throwing to? he had absolutely zero problem finding vernon davis, anywhere on the field, and matter of fact, vernons favorite route was the seem route which alex throws easily. he hit randy moss 55 yards in stride in the giants game this year. Found Crabtree vs the bills 30 yards down field against the bills. He didnt have deep threats until this year. Crabtree is certainly not a deep threat. And even with Colin, randy moss didnt get many deep balls thrown to him. Okay i get it, but who was he supposed to be throwing deep to?

let me break it down to you Jon Baldwin will be jumping out of the field in shorts off trampolines making one handed catches Dexter McCluster will look like the real deal Allen Bailey will look like this monster Peyton Hillis 1000 yards rushing! Cyrus Gray is going to be a starter in this league!!!! Tony Moeaki finally gets it! great one handed grab in shorts! Jalil Brown looks like a legit NFL CB! He is shutting down Devon Wylie! Kendrick Lewis misses practice in shorts with a broken vagina! and now instead of Cassel "finally looks like he fixed his mechanics/the offseason training paid off" we will have Alex Smith "looks like a new man/has a chip on his shoulder/came to save KC! what a great guy!!!!" Im so excited |

Not quite. Dexter McCluster sucks even in shorts

Here is the full list of QBs who had a career-high 17 TD passes one season in their glorious lives.
Tony Banks Quincy Carter Jim Harbaugh Eric Hipple Neil O'Donnell Steve Pelluer John Roach Randy Wright Alex Smith ****, man. Even Gus Frerotte, Stan Humphries, Joey Harrington and Tim Couch had 18+ TD passes in a year. Even Jim ****ing Zorn had 20 in a year. So maybe Alex Smith will be as good as Neil O'Donnell! |
Any chance of landing Wilson in the 3rd??

Alex had 18 passing tds in 2009.
Thigpen was a more productive player. |
Thigpen 2008
11 games 2608 passing yards 18tds 12ints 386 rushing 3 rushing tds 1 receiving td That's more production than Alex Smith has had in his whole 9 year career. Sad |

Who are they going to draft in the third round that ISN'T a major project? The 8th-9th best QB in a "weak" QB class? Yeah, I'm sure that will blossom. And if Alex Smith makes the Chiefs "competitive" in 2013, they aren't going to be in position to take an instant-impact, difference maker in the 2014 draft, who can start in 2014, unless they make a major trade up. That's the biggest problem most have with this trade. It's not just the compensation or that Alex Smith is a bottom half to bottom third QB in the NFL. It's that it also took away any logical or likely chance to draft and develop a guy this year, and if they do the patented Chiefs 7-9 win season next year, won't be in position to get one of the better guys next year. |
AR's first blunder as your new HC.
Times yours. |

It's only a shock to the rest of the league... |
The niners line is the best run blocking team in the NFL, they are very average at pass blocking.
|
It's crazy how people just increase their own misery by posting any negative stat they can find on Alex Smith. Talk about wallowing in ones own misery :shake: 3000 posts of tears. Sad really.

Hello, all. 49ers fan here. Congratulations on picking up Alex Smith. Not for your team, but for your forum. From here on out it will not be boring.
And oh, thank you for what is (I think) the #34 overall pick in the next draft. :) |

Yeah, I said that about a cartoon. And meant it. |

I have no idea how Alex Smith will do for your team, but there's a good chance he will be a solid, safe stand-in until you pick up a franchise quarterback. I've never been a fan of him, but the past couple years he's protected the ball well with a good completion percentage. |

49ers fan here, Alex will lead you guys to the playoffs, wild card atleast.
Geno is gonna bust. You guys will be happy you didn't draft him #1 overall. |
