huge red flags

hes essentially a really crappy version of Chad Pennington, and will never put up numbers like Pennington, but injury and noodle arm are much similar.

Wow. People think his arm is that bad. interesting.

I dont want a fight, i just want to ask you if you know that he wasnt benched. he got hurt, and Kaeps play kept him off the field. he did absolutely nothing to get benched for. He was 25/27 with 4 tds, no turnovers when he was hurt. he was LIGHTING up the world when he got hurt. Just kaeps ceiling, and big play capability was so much higher than alexs. That doesnt mean that alex sucked. It just means that Kaep was that good. And he is. hes so young, and so talented. Way more talented than alex smith. thats not saying much, there are only about 4 guys in the entire league that are more dynamic than kaepernick.

He was lighting up the world so bright the coach kept his ass on the bench. A #1 overall pick, at age 27.

Are his balls rough on your chin?

cdcox 03-03-2013 11:57 PM

His arm is not Pennington bad.

BossChief 03-04-2013 12:00 AM

It's not his arm strength that scares me...it's his fear to use it that does.

53 attempts over 20 yards in the last two years combined.

He only completed 21 of them.

shaking my head. You just refuse to get it. The game before he got hurt on monday night, he completed 18-19 passes with three tds. he started the game he got hurt 7-8 and a td. What part of that deserved benching?

Or did a coach decide after seeing two games of kaepernick that his HAND PICKED QB was ready to take over? Yes, me stating that Kaepernick is the better qb is alexs balls on my chin, and in no way a reflection of your stubborness, and refusal to use fundamental reading comprehension. YOu just want to go with alex smith got benched, and you guys traded for a scrub back up because clearly the black penis of Geno Smith as per your avatar, is squarely mushroom stamping you on the fore head right now. Remember to coddle the balls, or he may not tip you.

Personally, it isn't the 21/53 that makes me sad. It is the attempts. While is is probably to due to gameplan/philosophy, that team should have utilized more deep routes off of PA. Now, their route design could have called from plays that stemmed at 15 and the ball was delivered at 17-19. I don't know and it would require me to go through 1.6 years of film.

According to the 49ers fans, the plays were called, but Alex Smith wouldn't throw the pass unless the receiver was wide open.

When he's not dinking and dunking like a overweight cop with donuts, he's taking sacks.

BossChief 03-04-2013 12:18 AM

If Reid thinks he's gonna raise the attempts for Alex and that will translate to more production, Alex Smith is gonna end up getting sacked 60 times.

He got sacked 44 times in 2011 behind one of the best lines in football and only throwing 445 passes.

Foles/Vick threw 616 passes last year combined...that means Alex would take OVER 60 sacks with that many attempts.

Typical game manager...the trouble is that game managers ALWAYS get beat by franchise quarterbacks on the big stages. Franchise quarterbacks throw into tight windows because that's what you need to do to keep defenses on their toes.

Guys like Alex Smith don't force you to defend the deep halves and therefore defenses are able to bring guys closer to the line. That makes it tougher on the running game as well as putting you at risk for more sacks because of the box being stacked.

And here we are in KC thinking we would finally get rid of Cassel, only to have restarted the movie again.

You know nothing of the guy. You dont know the stuff he has been through in 8 years. To you its simple. Hes a bust, he never lived up to his potential blah blah blah. His perseverance and ability to over come what was the worst organization in football for 6 years, to find some success, while always taking the high road, and being the ultimate teammate, and professional, its admirable. I dont expect anyone else to feel the way I do. but nit picking something you really arent invested in, is a waste of time.

In the saints niners playoff game, alex had to make a throw, he did. In the nfccg, trailing by a fg, with time running out, they had to get a fg, alex smith got them into fg range. Careful how you just jump on whatever says.

Alex is not a huge risk taker, but if he has to make a play, he will.

im invested in the Chiefs wasting things on a shitty investment that is going to make me waste investing the next 3 to 4 years watching them

so yes, the invest affects me, I dont care his story to know his red flags as a player, durability, noodle arm, cant bring a team back from a huge deficit, he's deep ball accuracy, etc.

he may be a smart nice guy with a great charity but hes totally limited by his physical skill set and that football IQ/awful physical tools doesnt fly anymore in the NFL, its not the 80s or 90s anymore. You win with fast or big QBs with strong arms and good pocket awareness, Alex Smith is NONE of that.

Im not going to try to convince you. It will take until january for you to understand what is going on, and why they traded for Alex. Im this giant Alex lover right? Okay, I know that Alex Smith is not being brought here, to be your franchise qb, I know why he is being brought here. If it was to win the super bowl this year, i would be like, wow this was ****ing dumb. Its not. Its for your future, which with andy reid, and alex smith, isnt going to take another 4 years. you guys will be competitive this year, and your future qb can take over either next year or the year after. Mav 03-04-2013 12:50 AM

You guys keep talking about his inability to throw the deep ball. Who the hell was he supposed to be throwing to? he had absolutely zero problem finding vernon davis, anywhere on the field, and matter of fact, vernons favorite route was the seem route which alex throws easily. he hit randy moss 55 yards in stride in the giants game this year. Found Crabtree vs the bills 30 yards down field against the bills. He didnt have deep threats until this year. Crabtree is certainly not a deep threat. And even with Colin, randy moss didnt get many deep balls thrown to him. Okay i get it, but who was he supposed to be throwing deep to?

you are going to be new to all the August training camp hype

let me break it down to you

Jon Baldwin will be jumping out of the field in shorts off trampolines making one handed catches

Dexter McCluster will look like the real deal

Allen Bailey will look like this monster

Peyton Hillis 1000 yards rushing!

Cyrus Gray is going to be a starter in this league!!!!

Tony Moeaki finally gets it! great one handed grab in shorts!

Jalil Brown looks like a legit NFL CB! He is shutting down Devon Wylie!

Kendrick Lewis misses practice in shorts with a broken vagina!

and now instead of Cassel "finally looks like he fixed his mechanics/the offseason training paid off" we will have Alex Smith "looks like a new man/has a chip on his shoulder/came to save KC! what a great guy!!!!"

Im so excited

Here is the full list of QBs who had a career-high 17 TD passes one season in their glorious lives.

Tony Banks
Quincy Carter
Jim Harbaugh
Eric Hipple
Neil O'Donnell
Steve Pelluer
John Roach
Randy Wright
Alex Smith

****, man. Even Gus Frerotte, Stan Humphries, Joey Harrington and Tim Couch had 18+ TD passes in a year. Even Jim ****ing Zorn had 20 in a year.

So maybe Alex Smith will be as good as Neil O'Donnell!

Alex had 18 passing tds in 2009.

Thigpen was a more productive player.

BossChief 03-04-2013 08:26 AM

Thigpen 2008
11 games
2608 passing yards
18tds
12ints
386 rushing
3 rushing tds
1 receiving td

That's more production than Alex Smith has had in his whole 9 year career.

Sad

For a future QB to take over either next year or the year after, the Chiefs must take one.

Who are they going to draft in the third round that ISN'T a major project? The 8th-9th best QB in a "weak" QB class? Yeah, I'm sure that will blossom.

And if Alex Smith makes the Chiefs "competitive" in 2013, they aren't going to be in position to take an instant-impact, difference maker in the 2014 draft, who can start in 2014, unless they make a major trade up.

That's the biggest problem most have with this trade. It's not just the compensation or that Alex Smith is a bottom half to bottom third QB in the NFL. It's that it also took away any logical or likely chance to draft and develop a guy this year, and if they do the patented Chiefs 7-9 win season next year, won't be in position to get one of the better guys next year.

lol Come on, man. It's all in good fun. I got no hate for the Chiefs.

I have no idea how Alex Smith will do for your team, but there's a good chance he will be a solid, safe stand-in until you pick up a franchise quarterback.

I've never been a fan of him, but the past couple years he's protected the ball well with a good completion percentage.

Geno is gonna bust. You guys will be happy you didn't draft him #1 overall.

Quick question. Are you required to have an IQ below 100 to be a 49er fan?

So, just curious, had your guy not dropped that punt and Alex lost you a Super Bowl instead of Kaep, would you be a fan then?

No. Smith was surrounded by an A team on both sides of the ball, including a HOF performance by David Akers, the kicker (who suddenly started sucking after a strong start in '12).

Did he start sucking after Smith was benched? #headscratcher

lol Come on, man.

You are a waste of oxygen turd.

I don't recall exactly when, but I did look up that he made his first 6 field goal attempts in 2012. That included the record tieing 63 yarder.

Obviously, his performance is unrelated to the QB position.

Man, you guys weren't kidding. We've got like a dozen people from your board, and I STILL haven't had my account approved over there. Jesus, who runs that thing?

When I signed up I sent an email to the administrator about a week and a half after I signed up. A few days later he activated it, and sent an email back saying "Sorry it took so long."

When you do get in, just be aware that it's heavily moderated.

Yeah, I've noticed. They have a thread of complete shock, and dismay at how we are over here. I moderate this site. I only do it because there's really nothing to do. It's just short of anything goes over here. That said, rape your mother. ;)
