Nice win for Team USA. I feel good about them headed into the elimination round.

Canada-Finland goes to OT, so the U.S. takes the #2 seed. Woot.

DaFace 02-16-2014 01:21 PM

And Canada wins, so they're in the U.S. half of the bracket. Here's the full bracket:

Man, I'd love it if they could have put the airing date/time/channel on each of those matches... I know it all starts us again Tuesday, but that's still pretty broad.

Canada probably should have got that done in regulation, but at least they avoided Russia in the QF. Switzerland won't be easy if that's the matchup, though, they've played well this week.

Finland looked good.

They haven't decided that yet. Will soon, I'm sure, with influence from the TV networks.

They're generally pretty solid. Made few mistakes today. Amazing that Selanne is still playing at this level at 43.

American girl (Hernandez) completely rag dolled during snowboard-cross qualifying. Slammed her noggin on the hard pan after she caught too much air on a jump. Poor girl was KTFO'd.

I was hoping for Canada/Russia, which would have pushed Canada/US to the gold medal game.... but, still plenty to be excited about.

Slovakia should be much better, and I imagine there might be some intensity between two teams that were once the same country. The Swiss are a pain in the ass to play against and Latvia's actually played some decent hockey.

Four games on a weeknight is tough, but can't wait for Tuesday and Wednesday. :D

Sounds like the course is borderline unsafe. Another girl (Norway's Helene Olafsen) blew her knee on the course today, and a Russian girl (Maria Komissarova) fractured her spine yesterday. :shake:

Helps you to remember that these are pretty extreme sports when it really comes down to it. At least no one's died this year like happened in Vancouver.

Snowboard cross is fun to watch.

headsnap 02-16-2014 06:46 PM

it was a Semi, Lindsay was in the lead, there was no need for her to try and triple that jump....
