The Royals players won in SPITE of Ned Yost's dumbass tonight.

pulling shields for ventura was dumb.

but IMO Yost made up for it. Stealing Dyson to 3rd was ballsy as hell.

Back home from the game. An unspeakable experience that I think I'll speak about a lot for the rest of my life.

Leave Ned alone. He's a good manager.

Ballsy? LOL

He made up for Jack shit.

King loves him some Yost.

Is he your dad or something?

LOL

Yost could have ****ed Ventura for life....

Hootie 10-01-2014 05:09 AM

I said before the game that, if needed, I'd give Ventura the 6th inning. I have no issue with using him to start the 6th. I do have an issue with us not using Finnegan or Duffy for at least 1 out the way it worked out.

Moss, while better against lefties this year, still has a 3 year split line that looks like this:

.940 OPS against righties
.640 OPS against lefties

In a do or die you have to use a lefty there...

Hopefully Ned learns from that and Finnegan, thankfully, showed the moment isn't too big for him tonight

If there is ANY downside to the epic win it's his ass is was saved. The Royals won because of the grit and heart of the players on that team and not because of their idiot manager.

Not really. Taking a chance of leaving your best reliever is stupid to me. Use what you have. If the game goes to extras, so be it. But there would be no excuse to finish the game and Holland not getting out there. You use your closer top of the 9th in close games. Don't save him just in case there might be extra innings.

You still need to figure out who our best reliever is......

What about winning a close game like this?

King is totally wrong.

There was no reason not to go Wade 8th and 9th

Then Holland 10th and 11th

There was certainly no reason to not use Holland again despite him loading the bases.

Typical Yost and the bullpen.

I had the game mapped out better than he did before the game in the game thread...he sorta, kinda listened to me but I never would've brought Ventura in with runners on, I'd have given him his entire inning from the start.

The way I mapped it before the game if Shields were to be pulled after 5 was: (in a tie game scenario)

Ventura 6 (maybe 7 as well depending on how the 6 went)
Herrera 7 (maybe 8 depending on how well 7 went)
Davis for 2
Holland for 2
Guthrie for GOOD LUCK!

with Finnegan/Duffy as the LOOGY if needed (basically, for Brandon Moss)

ESPN and MLBNetwork both unloaded both barrels into Yost last night after the game. It was a thing of beauty. I still hold out hope that if DM bolts Yost goes with him. Gardenhire and Guillen would both be a huge upgrades IMO.... although I think Ron is the better fit
