When people get critical of this squad I laugh. Remember klinsmann squads? Remember us not being able to chain more than two touches together? Remember “kick ball” (kicking it deep and hoping and praying Jozy does something with it)?

This squad is miles ahead in talent and they’re all young.

I’m not terribly outraged about the roster. Again I think they’ve done pretty well this time around but they also didn’t have a choice after the last fiasco. Where clearly mls favoritism kept us out of a World Cup so of course it still leaves a bitter taste. It’s much better But there is still hangover. I’m not sure if Berhalter is the guy and am puzzled by their refusal to give aaronson and Reyna meaningful time. And I’m not convinced that a semi successful run this time around doesnt let us fall back into old habits. I feel good that we will qualify but I just don’t understand those wales substitutions.

But for this time around… sure, the beef isn’t that big. I just called it out as a factor.

The NFL absolutely bludgeoned the World Cup yesterday in terms of TV viewership… 42 million+ watched the Cowboys/Giants game.

The USA/England game will maybe get 1/4th of that TV viewership.

It's just really funny how much more popular American Football is. Soccer reminds me of religion. The only reason people believe/like it is because they grew up with it. If given the choice between other options why on Earth would you want to play or watch this god forsaken game?

I didn’t grow up watching soccer. It’s still down the list for me but I never got the hate. I enjoy it because I like to drink and watch sports, and the right group of supporters or sitting in the right sections at a live match makes it hella fun.

And when it comes to World Cup you get to root for America. Nuff said.
