I finally finished Fallout 4 and I’d say I agree with you. The story was a bit strange and I definitely didn’t love it as much as New Vegas, but it was fun enough. The addition of power armors and settlements were interesting. Power armors were cool but the settlement shit could get annoying quickly. **** Preston Garvey for always having a new ****ing settlement mission everytime I speak to him.

I’ve probably got about 50% of the map either unexplored or not fully explored (discovered location but never entered the building). Now I decide if I want to do some more exploring or just move on..

I've been playing Final Fantasy 16 and it's been great. Good characters, good story, looks incredible and the battles are fun.

I may have shot Preston in the face a few times in a fit of rage. Then reloaded my last save.

Not sure if posted anywhere but it appears that a major hurdle to the Microsoft acquisition of Activision was cleared. Not sure this is good overall for gaming as more development studios get swallowed up. There seems to be little desire on the part of Microsoft and Sony to make games available on both systems.

I’m balls deep into it as well, feels like a lot of button mashing for a FF game but I’m really digging how they made it all flow so smoothly. It seems a little easyish compared to prior versions but not sure, I do like the ability to retry with the boss having decreased life compared to the starting point. Makes it easier for a story mode but less strategic than the old versions. Strategy seems pretty basic however I haven’t gotten too deep into customization except for weapons.

The game gave me some rings at the beginning of the game so I just equipped them immediately and moved on with the game without reading what they were. So then I got another item and when I went to see what it was I realized that the 3 rings were for basically super easy mode. One auto combos, another auto evades and another one auto heals. So I got rid of those and the battles added more difficulty. There's also a gameplay setting that changes from Story mode (easy mode) to action mode (more difficult) as well. There are so many settings.

I like that you can reset your abilities at any time. I pretty much have my build down now and I'm not changing that much.

Yeah, I’m in the harder mode and haven’t used those rings just because the intro talked about what they did. I’m happy with the current difficulty. Had some really good close boss/hunt battles so far.

Did you get to the S tier bounties yet? Those are tough.

Beat FF16 a while ago. Unfortunately the game peaks well before the credits roll. For quite a while it was at a 9.5 out of 10. Ended up about an 8 or so. Still a contender for game of the year I bet but not the runaway I thought it'd be.

For my roguelike fans, Nova Drift is an easy recommendation from me. Offers the wacky permutations each run on par with Noita, perhaps moreso as you'll be upgrading every 30 seconds. The gameplay is highly reminiscent of geometry wars, with the added difficulty of thruster based movement.

I don't like exclusives of any kind, but I'm a PC gamer and it's gotten a lot better in the last few years. Spencer brought all the Xbox games to PC and Sony followed suit(for the most part). It's a win for me as a PC gamer.

Stayed up til 1:30 last night to beat Odin, really enjoyed that battle.

Really?!? NGL, that may have relatively been the lowest point of the game for me. Incredibly disappointed in that entire arc, including that fight.

Well I have been playing FF 16 for a week or so and I am very impressed with it. Obviously a lot to go still. My only issue is that so much of the game so far is cinematics and perhaps that will change. I get it that is a staple of FF games (at least newer ones) and I can always skip them but I want more action without compromising the story. It probably just me complaining to complain and nit pick on a very good game.

I will say that I like how they went back to a more medieval theme vs FF 15 where there were cars and cell phones. I could never get into that.

I’m not sure why, but I keep feeling like they got a lot of the inspiration and writing from the game of thrones show. Throughout the game so far I keep feeling like well this was blatantly ripped off from GoT


That said I am much preferring the medieval theme to the modern one of the last game. 7 and 3 as well was also a good blend of modern tech in a post apocalyptic world.

Played Diablo 4 for the first time last night. Had a good time, didn't really grab me though. I played about an hour and a half so I'm not coming to any conclusions yet.

Yep. It's actually absurd just how broken his ability is compared to literally every other Eikon.

I don't know if they'll bother with a balance patch but there's a certain handful of abilities that completely outclass all the others.

If you're not using Will of the Wykes, you're doing it wrong. 4 damage nullifications. Per cast. And the cool down is ridiculously short. Lightning Rod is also a must since it pairs incredibly well with Will of the Wykes, Dancing Steel, and Gigaflare, which are pretty much the best abilities in the game.

Pretty much what I ran for the entire endgame.

Odin: Dancing Steel and Lightning Rod
Phoenix or Garuda: Will of the Wykes and Heatwave/Raging Fists depending on what I'm doing
Bahamut: Diamond Dust and Gigaflare


Heatwave and Raging Fists are broken as **** too once you can consistently trigger their counter mechanics and Diamond Dust wrecks stagger bars.

Would love to play Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as I have heard they are both amazing, but just can't drop $300 for a Switch to play them.

I pretty much picked up a switch to play BOTW, I feel it was worth it. I have TOTK sitting unopened waiting for me to finish FF first. The switch has gotten some other use as well since but it might be worth re-considering.

Fair enough. I was in the PC game for YEARS but realized that the cost of being a PC gamer has gone through the roof. I was working for a computer store back in the day and was the buyer for our company so I got privy deals on hardware. My guy I was buying from and I had an awesome relationship so my hardware was damn near at cost. Now a days, video cards are OUTRAGIOUS! So I moved to a console because it was much cheaper. Like then, and like today, the cost of being a PC gamer is an expensive choice. The initial cost can be overwhelming. You can be outdated in the snap of a finger and now you have to spend $1500 + for just a video card. To me, that is insane just to play a ****ing game. However, I RESPECT those that can still chase the dream. I appreciate you. :thumb:

Remnant 1 wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but I'll take a look at this one. Some think it's the best game ever made. I'm not a Souls kinda gamer but I can understand why some love it. This one looks a bit more polished, I'll wait and see what it's like.

Yeah once to get the dodging down, and especially if you use the Berzerker ring, then the fights get easier.

But for real, I've gotten over 250k on an 'ideal' stagger sequence. Diamond Dust, Will O The Wykes, Zankutzen, Lightning Rod, Gigaflare, Dancing Steel, second Zankutzen.

Just as an aside, it's pretty easy to effectively guarantee a level 5 Zankutzen with just one Dancing Steel. Place a Lightning Rod right before and it counts those hits too.

Diamond Dust INSTANTLY puts them at the 1.5 damage multiplier so it's smart to use it at the very beginning of the fight to have it again when it's staggering time.

I just think Remnant looks ugly and the first one was super boring most of the time. I'm still on the fence on 2 but thankfully there is a *cough* free demo out already so people won't have to blow $50 on something they don't like. I'll have to look at Baldurs Gate again but I believe it's turn based? I haven't played that game since the 90's and it was decent back then.

I took the plunge and bought this, amazing game. If you're not a souls type player just leave it on the normal setting it's hard but not overly. The game world and way everything works is amazing. So much better than the first game graphic wise and each world i've seen so far(3) look amazing and feel great.

Just an update if you do decide to buy this for $20 on steam, it works on Steam deck(instructions at the link) and many people have worked hard to make every year since the 1940 season for the game. Download them here including NCAA mods and CFL teams etc.
