Do you walk Hamiliton, play the infield in...and try to get a force at home? That would set up a double play.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-20-2011 08:49 PM

This is a mistake. Rhodes can't throw strikes and he's not a swing and miss pitcher. This is Motte's game, it's not his fault Kinsler on got with a dying quail.

I agree. Rhodes to pitch to Hamilton then who?

Sadly, we're overdue for LaRussa's tinkering to bite us in the ass. But you can't fault him too much. Motte just choked.

KC_Connection 10-20-2011 08:49 PM

Going to Rhodes is probably the right decision. Dotel is still out there for Young and Beltre, right?

I would. It's easier to make a play at the plate when you have a force play. Realistically, you just need to keep Andrus stranded.

I don't know about this. I think Motte can blow it by Hamilton. Rhodes might throw some ducks up there Hamilton can catch up to.

Dotel. He's lights out vs. RHBs.

Hamilton's frustrated, though, so he may just expand the zone for Rhodes.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-20-2011 08:51 PM

FWIW, Hamilton hits lefties really well (10 HR this year, IIRC), so there isn't much of a platoon advantage.

BigRedChief 10-20-2011 08:52 PM

Strike out and the a walk and a double play is our only way out.

TrebMaxx 10-20-2011 08:52 PM

If you are going to walk him then why pull Motte?

Yea I would have kept with Motte for at least one batter. Hamilton can't turn on a fastball right now.

Josh Hamilton career OPS vs. RHP: .958
Josh Hamilton career OPS vs. LHP: .797

It's a tough one, but LaRussa played the odds.
