I just want Clay to tell me how Alex Smith sucks when PFF, his bible, ranked him as a top 10 QB in 2011.

So Geno would be classified as suck if he was never a top 5 NFL QB?

So we expect Geno to be a top 5 QB from the get go?

Got it.

Andy wasn't desperate for a quarterback last year. He was only one year in a that 100 million dollar deal he signed Vick to.

Alex Smith was top 10 in 2012? Interesting, to say the least.

He also had the #7 overall QBR last year, too.

I'm a Chiefs fan, I have to find a way to believe this will work out.

no, #8 in 2011

he was on pace to be #12 (I think) in 2012...right behind Matt Schaub

but let me just say the elite QB's score 40+

Alex Smith at #8 in 2011 was at like 17.5

Russell Wilson scored a 40 this year. Peyton Manning led the league with like a 55.

Hammock Parties 03-17-2013 09:55 PM

Being "on pace" means jack.

Sean Smith was "on pace" to be a stud last year before he reverted to form.

Hootie 03-17-2013 09:55 PM

it is basically like this:

60
50
45
45
40
25
20
18
18
15

Joe Flacco has been worse than Alex Smith in both 2011 and 2012 according to PFF.

I think Flacco was lower than Smith for 16 games in a cumulative rating system when Alex only played 8 games.

I'm going to keep beating my chest about Joe Flacco. That dude just isn't worth the money he was paid. If I were the Ravens, I would have shipped him out for a king's ransom, avoided that contract like the plague, and then taken that king's ransom and shipped half of it to KC to move up to take Geno #1.

it would mean jack if he hadn't been on the same pace he held for an entire year in 2011

he maintained that pace for an entire 2011 and then for the first half of 2012...

common sense tells you he'd probably would have continued straight on that pace for the final 8 games had he not been injured

of course I don't think PFF takes into account he had the easiest job in football last year since his defense was so good and he was never really asked to win games...just not to make stupid throws.

so we know Alex Smith is good at managing games and not losing games...

can he win games though? That I don't think he can do.

But I didn't think Trent Green could either, so...that's why I think he can be like Trent Green.

It won't.

Pie in the sky wishes never work out, it might seem like it at times, but no way.

Hell even Alex Smith Fan says he's a game manager and not very good. And that his top fan.

Hootie 03-17-2013 09:58 PM

we know one thing

if the Chiefs can field the top defense in the AFC Alex Smith can, at the very least, get us to the AFC Championship game.

That much is fact.

Now can the defense do that? I doubt it. They have the talent...but do they have that fearless leader? We need Eric Berry to be our enforcer. If Berry can take that step, we could have an elite defense. I think DJ is too quiet.

Trent Green could throw the ball down the field and showed that in St. Louis before KC.

There is no comparison. None. ZILCH.

there is certainly a comparison

but we can just find out when the games start in a few months

my track record on QB's >>>>> your track record

Hootie 03-17-2013 10:10 PM

and again, I didn't want Alex Smith. I wanted my own QB. Not a retread. But I'm not going to be unrealistic and call Alex Smith Matt Cassel because that is nonsense.

Mother****erJones 03-17-2013 10:10 PM

Would love to have Trent Green on this team right about now

Hammock Parties 03-17-2013 10:10 PM

How is there a comparison.

Green forced the ball too much if anything.

He's the exact opposite of Alex Smith.
