I quit 3/17/2006 - That lasted appx 2.5 years...

I picked up the habit again at that point and was smoking ever since... Now today I had my last Cig on my way to work... and I am going to try again

I have some Snus left over and I am using that to deal with the cravings for now, but once thats all gone its going to be cold turkey.

Wish me luck compadres

i'm trying to quit gradually, i was smoking 2 packs per day and currently at half pack.

next i'll go down to 5 smokes and i'll be ready to quit.
this method worked once for me, stayed quit for almost two years.

I honestly like the patch. I'm not committed enough to quit smoking forever, but I do like to take a week or two off from smoking, and the patch gets me through it with relative ease. I smoke about 2 packs per day when I'm smoking regularly.

Also, if you sleep with the patch on it will give you really weird, vivid dreams. Kinda fun for me personally.

I like a very small landing strip or clean shaven.

The last time I tried to quit, (about 4 years ago), I used the patch. The dreams were freaky as all hell and I had to stop using them. Low and behold, I started smoking again. I also tried the gum, but it always left a bad after-taste.

I have been seriously considering to give quitting another try. I need to... I have no energy and just feel like crap. I think once the holidays are over, I'm going to try the e-cigs.

Btw, congrats to those that have quit and those that are on their way to being smoke-free! :thumb:

You can quit as a new years resolution.

If it fails, try again the next year, heh.

Have not smoked excessively, but can relate by chewing tobacco. It has hard to go coldy all at once, the best method I have found is weaning oneself off. Al the best.

Wednesday was exactly 8 months since my last cigarette. Can't even remember the last time I had any kind of a craving. Woot.

Nice. Do you not even get the urge when you're near other smokers?

I used to quite a bit when I first quit, but those have gone away as well.

Congrats man! :thumb:

After 46 years of smoking, I haven't had one since labor day weekend. Like you, no more serious cravings, even when drinking.

KCUnited 12-30-2011 10:41 AM

I quit smoking 5.5 years ago. Never had the desire to smoke even around my friends that smoke. Last weekend I was hanging out, people smoking on my porch, something about my mindset, the vibe, made me want to have a smoke. I had to walk away, 5+ years after I happily quit.

The addiction is with you for life.
