I would rather claim him and he not report than not claim him at all.

Yep. By claiming him we really dont lose anything, but we could gain alot.

BUT TOM BRADY DID IT!

I understand that... but can we at least give the guy a few snaps before chucking him into the scrap heap?

Isn't that why we waited to take Stanzi in the 5th rather than the 3rd? He's a sure thing now!

He's a FA next year. We wouldn't own him unless we gave him a new contract or slapped the Franchise tag on him.

Pretty strong suspicion Kyle Orton about to become a Chicago Bear. Waiver deadline is in a few minutes

I'm not. This team doesn't have a QB. Stanzi looked to be the most promising QB on the team in preseason...

Stanzi has this thing called "potential." Just like every other top QB in the league.

pr_capone 11-23-2011 02:51 PM

How ****ing pathetic is this. I am so desperate for ANY positive news for the Chiefs that I'm all atwitter over the possibility of a Dungver reject.

Titty Meat 11-23-2011 02:51 PM

Well shit LaCanFora is usually right.

The NFL doesn't have to award us a comp pick for him. In all likely hood, they wouldn't give us a comp pick for a player that didn't play but 5-6 games and the Chiefs gave up nothing for.

$2.5 million is a pretty big gamble.

I'm all for it. People must be assuming that because I wanted Orton here...that I didn't want Stanzi to get reps. I just don't see any indication that this FO is willing to give him those reps.

If I was Haley.....Stanzi would have gotten the start after Cassel went down. Palko is shit. He's proven that he doesn't have it and the probably never will.

Stanzi played in a high-profile program in college. He's not some diamond in the rough. Every scout in the NFL knows exactly what he can do, and every team passed on him at least 4 times.

I understand the "Let's see what he's got" mentality, but the fact is that the coaches already have a pretty good idea what he's got. They obviously don't think he's the guy.

Again, yes Stanzi is a fifth round pick; Cassel was barely a seventh and Failco was undrafted. If we are going to throw out the draft pick status then again Stanzi should be starting. I don't know of anyone that is claiming he'll be Brady v2.0. But he should according to the scout's evaluations be the best QB we have on the roster.

Not if he didn't report. He would not have fulfilled his contract and we wouls still own him. At least that is how I understand it. I could be awfully wrong here tho.

As far as I understand it....if he doesn't report....he doesn't get paid. He would still be a FA next year.....he just wouldn't get the rest of the money that was on his contract.
