The only way this is memorable is if Missouri loses.

Hoping for a forgettable game.

Ultra Peanut 03-03-2012 03:22 PM

TAMU's crowd is ready for some SEC basketball.

mnchiefsguy 03-03-2012 03:46 PM

Workmanlike half. Tigers missed some up close shots. They should pull away in the second half....need to put this game away and get ready for the Big XII tourney.

O.city 03-03-2012 03:48 PM

Didn't Tech give MU some problems in Columbia? Seems like MU just plays down a little when they play Tech.

I'd expect a 20 point win though.

baitism 03-03-2012 03:52 PM

Playing down to your opponents is a quick way to get knocked out of the tourney. I have to give it to Self on one thing, kansas puts teams like TT away quickly.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-03-2012 03:52 PM

Denmon shut out at the half. Interdasting :hmmm:

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:01 PM

So Mizzou shot 40% while TT shot over 54%, and we've got a 4 point lead? Strange half. I didn't get to watch any of it.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:01 PM

Only 3 fouls on Mizzou in the half.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:03 PM

Who is this Matt Pressey guy?

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:04 PM

What is wrong with Phil Pressey? No points, 3 turnovers, and just fouled a dude on the 3 pointer.

O.city 03-03-2012 04:05 PM

Good play by Pressey there.

O.city 03-03-2012 04:06 PM

MU's defensive intensity lacking a little today.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:06 PM

That shove-off needs to be called more often in CBB.

stonedstooge 03-03-2012 04:07 PM

Denmon's 3 puts Mizzou up by 10

Dude just threw another stiff-arm.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:11 PM

Ridiculous shot.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:12 PM

Tech has the worst athlete in the BCS playing the 2 guard, a dude with 3 fouls playing the point, and we aren't attacking either matchup.

O.city 03-03-2012 04:15 PM

MU just toying with Tech.

I'd say a good run is coming here pretty soon by MU.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:16 PM

Incredible tip by Ratliffe.

O.city 03-03-2012 04:16 PM

Does Denmon do alot off the dribble? I've watched MU alot this year, but for the life of me I can't remember.

He used to, but he hasn't much this year in terms of shooting which is good. College players should almost never shoot off the dribble. The numbers are astounding. He can penetrate and score, though.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:19 PM

That foul wasn't on Lewandowski. It was on Nurse, and that's his 4th. He threw a moving "screen" by elbowing English in the neck.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:20 PM

WTF? That dude took 4 steps before saving it.

stonedstooge 03-03-2012 04:23 PM

Missouri extends the lead to 18

O.city 03-03-2012 04:26 PM

Is Tech the worst Big 12 team in history?

stonedstooge 03-03-2012 04:28 PM

It's turned into a "how many fouls can we call on Mizzou" contest.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:32 PM

Ratliffe is a monster, and Dixon is feeling it.

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:35 PM

10 fouls on Mizzou, huh?

Saul Good 03-03-2012 04:40 PM

These fouls are stupid.

Good second half by Mizzou, glad they pulled away.

Now on to the Big XII tourney.

We might get Texas Tech again on Thursday. It will either be them or Oklahoma State.

I saw that yesterday as well. Great win over OK state for the title. Does anyone know if wrestling will remain in the big 12 or move to a different conference?

They are sorting that out right now. It is part of a greater debate on how wrestling is organized at all. SEC doesn't wrestle though. They may still wrestle with Big 12'ers or be a part of a discussed regional pod type system.

I would hope they figure it out. It would be a shame to see Mizzou lose a great wrestling program because of the move. I still can't figure out why they can't keep it in the Big XII considering it works for both sides after you get over the hard feelings.

Hoiburg I can see, but Self getting it is like that player that keeps making the Pro Bowl based on name recognition. Haith should have won this thing, easily. He literally came out of nowhere with the same players, essentially, that Anderson couldn't do dick with.

And yes, that statement will probably spawn at least 300 responses from KU fan, I realize that.

I would have voted for Self, actually. Dude refuses to give up his hold on the conference.

Furthermore, while Haith has thus far exceeded my (very limited) expectations or him, there are times when he scares the shit out of me. For example, production out of the half-court set is too often tenuous (see: at KU).

Heh. I'm with ya. Has to be reaaal hard leading all those high 4 and 5 star players into battle. But, but, but it's a down year. Only starting roster is full of top tier players, not 2 full teams worth

Kinda surprised Dixon didn't even get Honorable Mention. Especially considering he was 6th Man and first team defense.

Cardo-2nd team
English and Flip-3rd team

No, you're right that Haith can't do a heck of a lot more at this point.

I'm enjoying this season for sure and am cautiously optimistic about how he'll be able to develop the program further.

O.city 03-04-2012 04:34 PM

Self returned 1 starter, had a couple recruits ruled ineligible.

I think Haith done a great job. Really, a great job. That said, he did inherit a senior laden team.

What makes you think Haith was that much better than Self?

DeezNutz 03-04-2012 04:37 PM

If there's a two-way split, which is weak, one could make a case for a three-way split:

Self: continues to win the conference.
Haith: most reg. season wins in school history.
Mayor: one of the best turnarounds in conf. history.

Hard to pick here.

Kind of like what I said earlier - how Haith took Anderson's guys and turned them into contenders when Anderson couldn't. Self is a great coach, that isn't debatable. I just think Haith did more than Self this year, especially considering his roster and expectations.

Had Haith won in Lawrence, he most likely would have won the award, but he didn't.

Then there's that. The inexcusable loss to OSU and losing to you guys in Columbia helped not at all.

DJay23 03-04-2012 04:40 PM

It's splitting hairs, but Mizzou had 4 players on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team plus 6th Man and KU had 2 first teams and a 3rd team. According to the coaches Haith had more to work with and still lost the league by 2 games.

How many of those players were selected the year before Haith began coaching them? In-game coaching is part of the equation, but so is player development.

When you consider expecations at the start of the year the coaches picked Mizzou 4th and KU T-1st so in that regard Haith did a better job.

Don't know and don't care. Just speculating what the coaches may have been thinking.

I would have been fine with Hoiberg getting it honestly.

O.city 03-04-2012 04:45 PM

So, I'm thinking with a good showing next weekend, KU could end up with a 1 seed and MU could end up being the top 2 seed. I still think that if MU wins next weekend a 1 seed is very much possible.

Which begs a question to you Tiger fans. If you are indeed a 2, what bracket would you want to be in?
