Early this morning, the Jets and CB Antonio Cromartie reached agreement on a new deal. |
@AdamSchefter
Adam Schefter Here's one example of how chaotic the NFL world has been: Since Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals have signed 51 players. |
We need a Sign Lofa Tatupu thread.
We need to sign him. If his knees can stay healthy, he's ever bit as good as DJ, to have the both of them with solid play from Gregg, and maybe more Gilberry snaps at DE with his added bulk, this defense can create more disruption in the backfield than having to put all of the pressure and attention to Hali. I believe this front 7 will be much better. Having anyone start over Vrable is a plus, and the two NT's that we got this season have the chance to be better than the one's that were replaced. Improving the front 7 will give Flowers, Carr and Berry tremendous help, thus making the entire defense faster, and better. |
Zach Miller told to stay patient
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 1, 2011, 8:02 AM EDT AP The highest remaining player on our Top 80 free agents list continues to wait for a new contract. It looks like tight end Zach Miller will get that contract to stay in Oakland. “People close to the situation paint a picture of Miller being told by the Raiders to be patient, wait for the Raiders to tie up other loose ends and free up the necessary salary cap room so that they can give him the kind of contract he deserves,” Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune writes. The Raiders were expected to spend big to keep Miller all along, but we remain surprised one of the most complete players at his position in all of football hasn’t received more offers elsewhere. At least that we know about. “Zach is still a free agent, and I’ve talked to him several times, and hopefully that situation will be resolved soon,” coach Hue Jackson said. Corkran writes Miller will be back with the Raiders, likely by Thursday, barring a “last-minute jaw dropping offer” from another team and a change of heart from Oakland. Al Davis has spent plenty to retain his key guys since the end of last season. Miller has probably been the organization’s most consistent player since 2007, so the only surprise here is that it has taken so long to get his deal. |

Jeremy Maclin - WR - Eagles Jeremy Maclin is still not at Eagles training camp due to an illness.
Maclin battled mononucleosis and lost 15 pounds after last season. Coach Andy Reid declined to say if that issue is still lingering with Maclin, making this a strange situation. "This is a personal thing and I can't go any further than that," Reid said. We'll only start to really get worried if Maclin isn't in camp by next week. |

Interesting..
Eagles thought they were out of running for Asomugha Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 1, 2011, 8:39 AM EDT No one was talking about Nnamdi Asomugha to the Eagles last week. That’s because Philadelphia and Asomugha’s camp both stayed disciplined in not talking to the media about their significant interest. Still, the Eagles thought they were out of the running when they acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, according to Peter King of SI.com. So did Asomugha’s agent Ben Dogra until the two sides exchanged simultaneous texts after midnight Friday morning. Dogra’s text said: “Are u sure ….. be bold. Best deal in history.” Eagles G.M. Howie Roseman’s text: “Thanks for taking the time today. I appreciate the process. We need more of ur guys here.” Dogra realized the two texts were sent at the exact same time, crossing each other in the ether. He took that as a sign and pressed forward. They negotiated until 3 a.m. ET and the deal was completed in the afternoon. We often hear a player wants to play on a certain team, but it really seems true this time. Asomugha preferred the Eagles to the Jets, which momentarily took the wind from the Jets sails. One New York report said the Jets were very surprised at the decision. “Nobody bats a thousand in this league,” G.M. Mike Tannenbaum told King. “When something like this happens, I try to learn from it and get better as a general manager. And I think I will.” In the meantime, the 2011 Eagles got a lot better on the field. |
The Eagles are going to kill teams this season, IF Vick stays healthy.
