I've always love Springsteen but I'm one of those rare people who likes his 80's better than his classics. So sue me... I like meaningful lyrics. This song has some great lines imo.

Girl ain't no kindness on the face of strangers
ain't gonna find no miracles here
well you can wait on your blessings my darlin but
I got a deal for you right here

...........

Aint no mercy on the streets of this town
Aint no bread from heavenly skies
Aint nobody drawing wine from this blood
Its just you and me tonight

...........

Oh girl that feeling of safety you prize
Well it comes at a hard hard price
You can't shut off the risk and the pain
Without losing the love that remains
Were all riders on this train

So you've been broken and you been hurt
well show me somebody who ain't
yeah I know I ain't nobodys bargain
but hell a little touch up and a little paint

Fat man sittin on a little stool
takes the money from my hand
while his eyes take a walk all over you
hands me two tickets, smiles and whispers good luck
well cuddle up angel, cuddle up my little dove
and we'll ride down baby into this tunnel of love

......

well it oughta be easy, oughta be simple enough yeah
man meets woman and they fall in love
but this house is haunted and this ride gets rough
and you got to learn to live with what you can't rise above

I remember having my "WTF, that was Paul Carrack, too? How many damn bands did he front?" moment...many years after this song came out.

I'm a little late to the '70s portion of the festivities, but whatever.

Heh, a few. Of all of them I think I like this solo one the best still.

Yep. Good song, one I'd forgotten about.

One more. I like good live videos, especially when the crowd's into it.

Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup.... a line I've always liked.

Heh. For some reason, I always liked the way they stuck the chorus right in the middle of the conversation in the verse:

She said, "I never done this kind of thing before, have you?"

CHORUS

And he said, "Yes I have, but only a time or two."
