DJ,

You were telling me that Weaver was okay but not that good right? Baseball America came out with their top prospects. Luke Weaver is our #4 top prospect. What gives?

Cardinals sign Brayan Pena, finally got Yadi a decent backup.

Well he's 4th in a not terribly inspiring group of prospects.

Weaver has re-established himself as a prospect, but I still see him as having #3 starter upside (and that's if he ever develops a true out pitch; right now he doesn't really have one).

He's our #4 prospect because A) our prospect list isn't that good these days and B) he's fairly close to big league ready. The fact that he's still behind Flaherty (who's never even thrown a pitch in high A) should tell you something about his projectability.

So no more Tony Cruz? I'm sad

I hope this is sarcasm.

Molina is going to miss more games as he ages. We can no longer allow a no hit, below average defensive backup catcher to be on the roster.

Okay, makes sense.

Apparently the chris davis hype to stl was overblown and they aren't that interested.

Surely they don't come out of all this with nothing, right?

I think Price and Hayward signings are more realistic.

If we sign Hayward, Piscotty can play an average 1B and hit .300 for a couple of years until Holliday retires. He can then take LF and we would then need a 1B.

If Piscotty moves to first base full time for 2+ seasons, he's not going back to the outfield.

Red Sox signed Price for 7/217, or $31 million per.

That's probably a fair deal for him on the open market, and I wouldn't have thrown a conniption had the Cardinals signed him to that, but I'm fine with them passing.

Him staying in the AL is huge, though.

yeah I heard all over the internet about his fondness for the Cardinals. All the Cardinals had to do was get close to market value and he was theirs..... $31 million for 7 years would have been a big gamble for us in those later years. I could see why they backed off.

I can get comfortable with a healthy Waino/Wacha/Martinez in the playoffs. We need one more top of the line pitcher this year. Reyes will be ready next year. We can use Gonzalez/Cooney/Lyons as stop gap/injury replacement 5th inning eater.

Lackey/Burhle or some FA bottom feeder pitcher is not acceptable. We need a top #2 at least pitcher. Spend some of that new cable money in 2017 to pay for that pitcher.
